Moderator Notice: Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.
These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

On another note, surprised we aren't already seeing new sports and romance series to fill the gap WNL and Haikyu will leave. Thought that be more of a priority.
I mean, yes, but the indication I get from the visuals is Zombieman doesn't understand that it's wrong. You can complain about that being a dumb joke, but it's not sexual assault.
That's a reach of an argument.
Does that mean that sexual assault doesn't exist in countries where women are seen as property thus not technically a crime? Are incels who rape not rapists because of their warped perception of women?
Just because the person committing the reprehensible act doesn't realize it's reprehensible doesn't make it any less reprehensible.

Uh this statement is wrong on many levels, Rain. Half the people who do the assault dont understand the "wrong" bit of it because to them the female is a piece of meat or an object or their right.
Denji is a horny teenager but when has he ever sexually assaulted anybody? These Chainsawman comparisons are lazy.
Not to mention, Denji is a believable character shaped by trauma. I highly doubt this new series will be anywhere close to as cleverly written. Just another lazy shonen manga using women's bodies as a cheap joke.
He didn't but he was basically sexually harassed after being forced to get drunk by that woman that i forgot the name, got puke in his mouth, not to mention how constantly used as a tool by the women in the series, of course it doesn't matter since he's a guy, so Chainsaw Man is a masterpiece, but if we change the genders?
I'm not really trying to create a entire argument about it, but a one page of a zombie touching the girls breasts seems way too little to cause early controversy when we have Chainsaw Man doing much more and no one cares

Chapter 21, Himeko picks a beer, drink keeping it inside her mouth, and kiss Denji forcing him to get drunk, he even spaced out after it because of the alcohol.
Because there's a bunch of women that are using him as a tool promising sexual rewards? again, what happens if we change the genders?
Oh please, no one got insulted by that, at first it was just "wow this is allowed on Shonen Jump?" and after that "Wow such a great chapter" kkkkk.
Again, not really trying to start a big argument because i really don't care, it's just fictional characters drawn in a paper, only pointing out that Chainsaw Man is doing more "controversy" stuff and people even praise the series for it.
Which context, it's exactly how i said, he's used as a tool in exchange of sexual stuff, gets sexually harassed and forced drunk by a older woman while he's a teenager, gets puke in his mouth but no one cares because it's a guy, but oh lord if a zombie guy touches a girl's breast!!!

The difference is Chainsaw Man isn't excusing these behaviors. They're funny because they are presented as horrible things. Well written black comedy.
This is more likely going to be a Meliodas type of situation where we're still supposed to act like this zombie character is a good dude just being funny. It's gratuitous and lazy.

Jeez. The "what about"-ism is strong with your statement.
Also I remember that discussion quite well here. People were critical of a number of things of that chapter.
I get that you think there is a double standard and you think you have a point so want to switch roles? Fine. Lets
Most men will tell you that the CSM chapter was funny and if it happened to them, they'd be okay with it or just treat it as a horrible thing. It wasn't a sexualized thing. It falls under very dark humor and the chapter itself wasn't done in a sexual manner. It was pure situational comedy albeit a dark one that some won't like (which is fine, if it's not your thing).
Switch roles and gender and women won't find it funny. And that's solely because of how women actually go through shit like this on a regular basis in real life since the start of time. And if it's in a manga, it's almost always sexualized with their own angles and poses and unintentional "panty shots".
Jesus Christ, why you have guys have such a problem to understand certain things? i'm literally saying i don't care, i'm not trying to create a big argument or saying that Chainsaw Man should be criticized and blah blah blah, there's no need in quoting me with big texts trying to explain stuff THAT I KNOW! t's just a waste of time and a annoying one when people don't know how to actually interpret what someone is trying to say -_-

You're right about both and i'm not even arguing about this, just pointing out that some users are acting a bit too "outraged" about something so little when Chainsaw Man is a much more controversy manga and yes, it's funny because of what you said, but you can totally bet that if Denji was a girl and all the girls were guys, people wouldn't be so acceptable about the black humor.
How does her being a victim of sexual assault make her cute?
I've kept quiet on this subject because Japan's backwards treatment of sexual assault as a joke is really nothing new, especially not in WSJ (I mean, Dragon Ball let this happen to Bulma all the time early on). Not defending it, but it's not especially surprising so I see no need for this surprised outrage we're seeing.
However, this argument of defense here is a real low.
Also, what does this even remotely have to do with Chainsaw Man?
cuz seeing how chainsawman succeed people expectations (more as an desire rather than its quality.) having this manga attract similair people like the chainsawman, which pretty much as you see is opening doors again for these manga to pass. like... its weird right having this published in WSJ nowadays with this sensitive topic.
also nowhere i said that her being a ''victim'' is making her cute. DRAWING her blushing is a way to feel more ''comfortable'' ''kawai'' ''innocent'' for the readers in japan rather than the opposite.
btw its not sexual assault anymore if she goes 5 sec later kissing his zombie lips
lets wait when the 1st chapters are released before judging
I would say Jigokuraku better fits that description more so than SxF. SxF is already a huge hit and hard to say its lurking in the shadows. Jigokuraku is doing well (around a 150k seller and growing) but obviously not as much as SxF. When SxF & Jigo get their animes, I can see Jigo getting the bigger boost and potentially surpassing SxF
