Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I feel like 'm the only one that actually likes the Yozakura Volume 1 cover but then again, I've yet to read the series.

Anyways, I'm curious, what Jump+ series are you guys currently enjoying right now and why?

Dosanko Gyaru is Mega Cute and Mato Seihei no Slave are the ones I've consistently kept up with. The former's this really nice slice-of-life romcom while the latter's been a fun erotic shonen romp that I've been missing. Neither has the story as a strong suit, but they make up for it with fun characters and really good artwork. 2.5D Seduction and Saotome Shimai are also ones I've enjoyed, but they haven't been scanlated in ages.

(3 out of the 4 series being ecchi are just a coincidence. I should start reading more non-ecchi stuff.)
Just Jigokuraku and Spy x Family. This last Jigokuraku chapter gave me some AoT vibes which was cool.

I also don't like bringing up my personal life on here.
I am a published writer (non-fiction). However, I've written and directed my own plays as well.
I've been told I can be extra critical of fellow creators, however I find it to be a matter of artistic competence and integrity. Especially if you know there's a chance that you could be serialized in this magazine for up to a decade yet you only plan the first handful of chapters.
Not to mention this is his second series, and he's shown absolutely no growth (arguably regressed).
Also, I've been reading Jump long enough to see countless series that clearly weren't very well planned. Plus we even have statements from Jump mangaka like Yasuhiro who openly said he didn't really plan out Kagami no Kuni no Harisugawa which led him choosing to end the series after less than a year despite some popularity. If a vet didn't properly plan, then why do we expect rookies, or second chance rookies to have always properly planned either when it clearly isn't a requirement (only having the first few chapters is) to be serialized.

And again, my issue is not with re purposing art. There's plenty of reasons an artist would do that.
Here's a good question - in the modern day of Jump, do you think good planning is necessary to survive?

I read tons of manga from Jump+. Almost the same quantity of WSJ which is the magazine where I read the most.

Dosanko Gyaru, Mato Seihei no Slave, Blue Flag, Heart Gear, Time for torture princess, Hina Change, Spotless Love, Rengoku no Toshi , Dear Sachan, Saotome Shimai wa Manga no Tame nara, Spy Family, Summertime render, The Vertical World and Tokedase! Mizore-chan. Not even counting the ones I still need to read and others that already ended.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Can anyone name all the manga shown here (in order please)
I don't know some but I will update with the name of the ones I know the name.

I've been reading a lot of Jump Plus series lately. From what Manga Plus has to offer, Blue Flag, Hell's Paradise: Jigokuraku, Summer Time Rendering, SPY x FAMILY, and 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess have all been consistently good reads, but the most interesting one to me recently (mostly in a morbid sense) has been Hina Change. It deals with a lot of heavy, uncomfortable subject matter that can easily ruin the manga if mishandled, but it's been walking this tight-rope walk without quite dropping the ball. I've been having a good time with it.

Anyway, I won't be truly happy until Soloist in a Cage returns from hiatus... :scry

I mean, the answer is probably "it helps a lot". If you are good enough to make things work even writing by the seat of your pants... you are good enough. It's just that most writers probably aren't, and (most of them) having to draw as well doesn't help.

I'm only reading spy x family. I love the character dynamic. It's always entertaining to see the next problem the Folgers have to deal with.

Jigokuraku. Incredible art, characters, world-building, action, story, etc. Its top notch overall and I also love how unpredictable it can get. I feel like it has a strong chance at being a huge hit if a good studio/staff gets their hands on it.

What I’m getting at is more so that I agree that the series is executed poorly.
I just do t agree that it’s always due to poor planning.
For Exp. He could have been planning this story out for years for all we know, but when he actually tries executing it in a weekly format it doesn’t come out the same way he planned.

I may have jumped to conclusions. I just usually associate “poor planning” as “being lazy” or “not putting enough effort” into the planning. When you could have just simply meant it wasn’t we’ll planned.
I just feel like he could have definitely put a ton of effort into it, but proved to be way too ambitious of an idea once he actually attempted. Plus I don’t envy weekly mangaka. It seems extremely difficult planning an entire script into a weekly format, and there’s a reason why more fail in Jump than succeed, because it’s really difficult planning a weekly series

This final Yui cover just came to open that wound again, still not forgiving you Nakano for that bizarre rushed ending...

Btw, beautiful cover.

#1 Kimetsu no Yaiba
#2 Gotoubun no Hanayome
#3 Kaguya-sama: Love is War
#4 The Promised Neverland
#5 My Hero Academia
#6 Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun
#7 Tondemo Skill de Isekai Hourou Meshi
#8 Daiya no A
#9 Spy x Family
#10 One Piece

Kimetsu no Yaiba's sales in 2020's fiscal year so far (10 weeks): 15,667,045. It hasn't crossed SNK's 2013 sales yet but it's only by a small margin (266,756). It should cross that figure and OP's 2013 sales in the following two weeks with the release of volume 19 and new reprints hitting bookstores, making it the 4th biggest yearly sales since Oricon started tracking sales.
Pretty sure this week puts KnY 18 in the lead of OP 95 again even despite Gotoubun being a bit lower than I expected

Next week is another 2mln week I think, reprints seem to have fully arrived now with kimetsu taking the entire top 11 on the 28th and all volumes being in the top 25

Wait, what? What's the source on this?
Generally the Sakuga community don't give "sources". They just have a shitload of contacts within the industry.

Those same guys have been wrong PLENTY of times even just in regards to bleach itself lol. I'd take it with a grain of salt (even though I wouldn't be surprised given Pierrot's current state), I think there's even a "rumor" floating around that Ufotable is taking it which I think we can all agree isn't happening.

M+ passed on the last new manga from January serialization round from J+

here's raw

"failing youGotuber goes viral after filming alien ships invasion on a stream, decide to chase the rush and start filming the wars from inside the battlefield"
weird they passed on it, seems like something western fans would like

Anyways, I'm curious, what Jump+ series are you guys currently enjoying right now and why?
SxF funny, cute, consistent, elegant
Vertical Land mysterious, whimsy, intriguing, unlike anything you will read

(3 out of the 4 series being ecchi are just a coincidence. I should start reading more non-ecchi stuff.)
a lot of Plus titles are ecchi because author get paid based on clicks and ecchi is easy clicks

At least it’s not been as toxic as when Stealth Symphony was running once upon a time. Christ did that fanbase have spider senses whenever someone made a small critique about the series or author. It was hysterical at times.
sharky gonna bait...

Here's a good question - in the modern day of Jump, do you think good planning is necessary to survive?
planning is necessary to succeed in every job...that's common sense

Jump+ volumes for the month:
this is the second manga volume written and drawn by Kazuki Takahashi after the ComiQ
and the newest YGO season moved away from him being character designer

I'm sticking by my last year prediction that he's gonna start a new manga

Dosanko Gyaru is Mega Cute, Muto and Satou, Spy x Family, Hina Chane, Dear Sa-Chan, Oresuki, and MHA: Vigilantes. Been loving a lot of the manga serializing on Jump+. The platform has been getting some interesting stuff and I definitely like a lot more of romance manga they serialize vs the main publication.

Man, ONE PIECE Volume 96 for April. They're really going to release volumes asap, given that series would have 12 chapters not compiled in volumes if Oda takes its 2 hypothetical breaks that he should have before April, or 14 if he doesn't take a single break. They're really rushing volumes knowing that each one is 11 chapters usually.
