Alright, I'm going to allow discussion on one anime YouTuber's video, since his are usually well-made, and he owned up to spreading misinformation in the past.

Making a video where you clarify that OP is actually still selling more than Kimetsu VoV at this point just comes off weird since we now know that's not true anymore. I mean, making a video called "situation of jump in 2020" on feb 22 which is actually stuck at nov 22 is just weird. This video is 3 months late.

Other than that...seems ok? Nothing that wasn't widely known already.

I’d imagine the vid is slightly out of date. Was probably putting this together for weeks

There has to be a limit to how much Japanese love generic manga...
Isekai exist and people eat it as junkfood.
Okay I am going to say this only once. If Oda isnt getting himself back on track and continue to write how he does it now eventually Op isnt going to sell even 1 million in four weeks
One piece proofed itself already being that high established, there will always be on lucky winner winning the lottery. It doesnt hurt OP, its always about the journey not 7/24 slaying ur enemies to find the upperlord

Yeah, I thought he would mention how KnY is doing in 2020.

Yozakura actally has very little romance in it. Sure, the MC keeps talking about how important love is, but we barely see the two of them together, they got married right of the bat with almost no build-up, and neither of them have any interest in other boys/girls. I guess you could count the hordes of stalkers as romantic rivals if you really want to, but even then, there's no real competition, no decisions to be made and no real goal to strive for, since they are already at the point where most romance stories end.

At first, I thought the colours were supposed to represent their personalities, but there are too many that don't fit. (A shame, because that would've been a cool idea.)

If we had to pick, I'd take red.
What is that thing? The Jump RED and Jump BLUE thing?? It was like an app right?? I ask because it has Yoh Asakura on it... Which idk just seems weird
lol

Also guys 2020 isn't over.. One Piece's volume 95 could still theoretically be the highest selling volume of the year. Yeah, I'm still on the denial phase lol..

But wouldn't it be funny if like a KnY volume and OP volume 95 kinda end up close to total sales, like say 100k-200k apart from each other (Which in fact will probably be the case) and Oricon reports KnY as single best selling volume of the year and Shueisha says it was OP volume 95 lol.

His takes on the newer series are pretty much spot on, there's not a thing I disagree with. Honestly, the first time I heard AA was a manga about acting in Jump it did feel out of place to me, however, the more I read it, the more I feel like it fits just right. Crossing fingers for JJK to completely blow up. Also, fully expecting it to sell WAY more than BC this year with JJK's backlog already hitting and BC having no backlog sales whatsoever. I wonder if there's a chance CSM might sell as much as BC at the end of the year with sales increasing and the backlog selling considerably. Also, the part where he said OP was still outselling KNY in volume sells lol, it shows he didn't actually look up current sales. Deniers will watch this video and still use the argument that KNY only outsold OP because of the backlog. Wait until half-year sales hit. The video doesn't seem very outdated though, since he mentioned UxU, Mashle and GOTW. Glad he mentioned and praised CSM.

His opinion about drstone was weirdly expressed. I understand that the production wasnt that great from the source material, (picking boichis art Is already hard to do, let alone consistent animation in todays era). It still did way better than people and fans thought it would be. It got one of the most massive attention and following which already makes me happy

Yeah, I think it's pretty obvious that this video was being worked on for a long time, and is out of date, so to speak.

Once KnY beats One Piece's best volume sales, he'll likely make a video about it, I'd wager.

That's not really an excuse, though. Adding in a small piece clarifying that the situation has changed in 2020 (which is what the video is supposed to be about anyways) wouldn't have taken that long, plus he mentions GotW in there too so it can't be that old, meaning he should have been aware of what was going on right now in 2020. By the time that picture of GotW even came out Kimetsu had already passed his 2019 sales.

I don't really care personally but you just know people who don't keep up with this stuff are going to watch this video and think OP is back on top. And the last thing we need is ANOTHER case like Shueisha's last year tbh.

Even assuming that's the case, it's only a matter of time before KnY shatters all of OP's records, except for lifetime sales.

Actually, we could just ask @ruggia about this, since they helped with Eyepatch's research.

Any particular reason why he left out KnY's performance this year? It's completely shattering the previous year's performance.

Kudos to Chart Freak and Raf having their materials featured in a YouTube video.

I mean, it's still got quite a bit to go before breaking the most sold volume in a single oricon year, which is about 3.3 mln IIRC, so that might still hold up.

If it takes that one as well though it means kimetsu will sell something like 60mln this year though, which would be...something.

Also, I'm surprised no one mentioned the mistake where he called Daruma from Samurai 8 a Shiba Inu.

Which is a dog.

This is not true. You said:

So, June 2019 is the time you mentioned. In the 6 months before that point in time, Jump launched:

- Chainsaw Man (December 2018)
- Ne0;lation (December 2018)
- Gokutei Higuma (December 2018)
- The Last Saiyuki (March 2019)
- Kamio Yui (March 2019)
- Samurai 8 (May 2019)
- Futari no Taisei (May 2019)
- Beast Children (May 2019)
- Tokyo Shinobi Squad (June 2019)

So, 9 series. If you want to be sticky and exclude the December 2018 series, that would still be 6 new series launched between the beginning of January 2019 and the end of June 2019.

Now, if you meant that Jump didn't really move in the 6 months before November 2019, then you would also be wrong. Because in those 6 months, Jump launched:

- Samurai 8 (May 2019)
- Futari no Taisei (May 2019)
- Beast Children (May 2019)
- Tokyo Shinobi Squad (June 2019)
- Yozuakura Family (August 2019)
- Mitama Security (September 2019)
[- Dr. Stone Reboot Miniseries (October 2019)]

So, again, 6 new series and one 9 chapter miniseries in those 6 months. And if you want to talk about launching new series within three months, you can see in the lists that Jump also did that (e.g. March-May 2019).
If you want to be pedantic about it, it was 5-and-a-half months. I was talking about the period between mid-June (when I joined) until late November (when the 2019 topic closed). Only 2 new series launched in that period (not counting the spin-off), which is very little considering they usually launch 11-12 series a year.

I know WSJ still launched an average number of series over the course of the entire year, but I never said anything about that. I was simply giving my opinion on why discussion was picking up more after the launch of the 2020 topic, compared to my first 5-6 months here.

So do you think KnY will beat Oricon's 2011 record 39 million record, quickest manga ever to sell 100 million, volume 67's first initial printing 4.05 million record ??

It already broke 2011 mid-year Oricon so the full year is probably gonna be broken too, but I doubt it will break every single one of OP's records sans its lifetime sales.

A lot of it depends on the post-movie performance, admittedly. I can't say for absolute certain it will, but I'm assuming that the craziness will continue.

That could change, I admit.

25 mins of my life that I'm never getting back, that video was a whole lot of nothing imo, he barley even talked about the series and the current state of their manga outside of Chainsaw Man (his description for Act-Age was just terrible), the video should've just been called "Top 10 selling WSJ manga of 2019", not to mention the ending with Kimetsu Vs OP used severely outdated info "One Piece is still doubling Kimetsu's per volume sales and is still King" and it's not like he had the video 100% ready before KnY overtook OP, considering he used panels from chapters that released 2-3 weeks ago

Something interesting for me in the video, he mentioned Spy x Family during Yozakura's part. Could it be that Yozakura sales were influenced by Spy x Family explosion? So ppl would buy anything related to spies?

We discussed that previously, I believe. It's possible. It's one of those genres people didn't know they wanted, so now they're wanting more of it.
