I liked Yozakura this week. It feels like the manga learned from it’s mistakes early on.
do you guys think it is too late to avoid cancellation?

considering the magazine has “worse” mangas.. (I am looking at you mashle, s8 and zipman). I hope yozakura survives.
It makes the author better realise to keep it plot related, I mean he still gonna do episodic chapters but these chapters gonna line all together into plots. For example the edgy sword guy is also a big part now for the story, (I think he gonna include the yandere and that other random guy to some future plots)

Editors thank the readers for lots of fan letters (FL) in this week's Agravity Boys.

because the jump doesn't give a long CP and better positions for Agravity boys ?

See, I’m not sure about that. Spy x Family did really well on Jump+, but I’m not sure if it would’ve achieved the same success if it was running in the magazine proper. It might, but it might not - really depends on how different the audiences are that primarily read each. I feel like if Shueisha thought it would do well in the magazine, they might’ve considered moving it there considering the weird state it’s currently in, but the manga’s kind of been the face of Jump+ for a while now.

Either way, it’s an absolutely massive win for Jump+. I’m sure Jump will find another major hit sooner or later, whether it’s be one of their existing serializations or something entirely new. It’s kind of what they do.
Part of the reason why I think it could've been just as successful in the main magazine is because it hits all the spots that current readers are looking for. It helps that it also went viral on Tumblr when it came out. Said Tumblr post also lists all the things readers were looking for, which would've also leaked into the Japanese readers.

The "Fake Marriage" plot is a popular trope amongst fanfic writers, before Endo went ahead and used it in his original work. This is where Endo's genius comes in. Shihei Lin mentioned that Endo is the calculating type, and that's where the source of Endo's success comes from, by accurately analyzing a trend in fandom and using it to create his work.

PLUS SMOL ANYA.

Im pretty sure the fact of the series being biweekly plays a lot into what the series can actually offer and what could not if its schedule were weekly.
I wonder about that too... you think going biweekly is a blessing for his health? If that's the case, we don't really know since we don't know the man well enough if he's physically up to the challenge of a weekly schedule.

For now SxF alone makes sure that people pay attention to Jump+ so people reading SxF there might spare a look at other series from Jump+ which is good for them. So I am glad J+ got a big fish like that instead of the whole "manga series from a popular Anime that already ended" that it usually had. It is good for the other series.

The "AND CAN PUNCH YOU SO HARD YOU’LL THANK HER " made me lol good. XD

The whole “fake relationship that gradually morphs into a real one” plot line is one I’m honestly interested in seeing in fictional romances (I didn’t know they were popular in fan fiction, but now that I think about it, one of the most popular PnF fanfics I read was basically that), and I don’t think I’m gonna get that from something like Nisekoi, at least not in a satisfying manner.
I’ve always been interested in Spy x Family, and I’ve seriously been meaning to read it. Not just Tumblr, this is one of the most popular manga on Reddit as well, with maybe only two manga ahead of it. I’m kind of surprised about the worldwide popularity of this. God, a well-done anime adaptation could potentially boost the series to mainstream heights, and it would probably be the first non-battle shonen in a while to do so.

@Newkerzy So you think SnK should better be in WSM instead of some random monthly magazine?
Also, webplatform manga is the future of manga. Don't be afraid of the future.

Yeah, that whole shtick is what made it so popular in the first place. And then Endo added a variety of characters, each with their own distinctive personalities and without those, the manga wouldn't be where it is today. When you look into it deeper, it really does seem calculated as Shihei Lin claimed. I wouldn't call it a non-battle manga per se when it's pretty obvious at some point the action is going to escalate as time goes on.

I really should read it sometime... it honestly sounds really good, and that Tumblr post only summarized the first two chapters, damn.

This is what will happen with Samurai 8, between the periods of toc 16 and 18 coincides with the announcement of Kubo.
Will Kubo be able to have a better return than the kishimoto? Bleach is no better than Naruto, despite having good times.
But with the end of kimetsu no yaiba, TPN, We never learn and yuuna, it's the perfect time for him to come back. But I doubt if his new work will surpass kimetsu and TPN, maybe it is better than yuuna, at most.

How on earth can you predict how something we know absolutely nothing about will do?
Just because Kishimoto failed it doesn't mean Kubo will also fail and viceversa, this is still one of the guys who created one of the biggest mangas in history and deserves at the very least a bit of credit for that.

Also peak TPN was a 700k seller and yuuna was like 100k, there's plenty of space between those.

I'm not disrespecting anyone, but there's no denying that Kubo is a limited author.
The peak of Bleach was the soul society and after that it went downhill.
I hope he does a good job on his next work. But it is difficult even for veterans.

Nah, Kubo just gets an overly bad rep imo. The level of criticism and "hate" he receives for the late phase of Bleach doesn't do the actual quality of late Bleach (which wasn't as bad as some hardcore fans claim it to be) and Kubo's skills as a mangaka justice.

Look, I don't dislike Yozakura, but now people are saying that the series suddenly got better even though, to me, it is the same way it was already.

The focus still remains only in Taiyou and Mutsumi (and sometimes the creepy brother and the Hinagiku guy), and all other siblings are still missing. OK, maybe there's a thread to develop a story with Taiyou parents now, but I won't credit it being good till I see it. There's no garantee that next chapter we won't have another Mutsumi's crazy fan. Also, the battles keep being villains getting almost always one hit ko'ed by Taiyou (or by the creepy brother and the Hinagiku guy) and that's it.

So, even though I don't think Yozakura's that bad like people said before, I really don't get where all this praise is coming from now, too.

Kubo is no Inoue or Togashi, if that's what you mean.

But his use character imagery in his story telling is far from being "limited". The way he portrays anger and/or despair is pretty great. Examples - Chapter "Everything but the rain" when Ichigo returns to SS and Chapter 634 "Friend 4".
He can also be incredibly poetic with his chapters. His chapter 565 "God Like You" is an example of this.

What he lacks is long term planning and therefore the consistency varies a lot. Maybe that's because of his health, who knows.

Everything Kubo draws (including all of the above) is very cinematic and that's always been his biggest strength.

That said, his new project could be literally anything. Even a short 10 chapter serialization of a spin off or something. Who knows.

We know atleast its gonna be an arc because it says "new development next week" and the last time it said that was before an arc

People sometimes cite Horikoshi as an example of a flop author not giving up after 2 failures and getting a hit at last, but his first series, Oumagadoki Zoo, did get 5 volumes in a pretty competitive wsj era. The second series might have been a total failure but he started out showing promise.

Shibata however started with an instantly cancelled flop, and Zipman appears to be going to be the same way which isn't a good sign. Has there been a creator who's come back with success after two total flops before?
Asou after Shinseiki Idol Densetsu & Our Heroes Studies did Saiki Kusou, but Heroes Studies lasted 6 volumes, I would consider it a failure but dunno if that counts if Oumagadoki Zoo doesn't

not in WSJ
Kaito did Cross Manage & Buddy Strike and now have Blue Flag on Plus, (Cross Manage lasted 5 volumes so again similar to Oumagadoki Zoo)

Yamamoto (E-Robot & Love Rush) have Saotome on Plus
Tanaka (Hitomi no Catoblepas & Kagijin) have Summertime Render on Plus

not in Shueisha
Hamada (Dogashi Kaden & Pajama na Kanojo) did Hanebado on Afternoon

To me, Hinata and Kageyama have the best rivalry of the current running series but I agree that Yonagi and Momoshiro's rivalry is amazing. I'd throw Itadori and Fushiguro in the bunch as well, though their rivalry is less heated than the other two.
I would say Nekoma vs Karasuno have a better rivalry than Hinata and Kageyama

4. Izuku and Katsuki
are these 2 even rivals anymore?
MHA main plot revolves around the development of Deku & OfA vs Shiggy & AfO parallel development
