[mod=Halloween]Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.[/mod]

Everyone, I added the sport suggestions. You are able to change your votes as well.

Usually I don't like having the poll have this many options, but I'll let it slide.

I voted Tennis.

I would say cricket would be nice, even if the matches are long, it could still work but it would probably be more suited for a lesser known magazine.

I voted fencing cause I used to do fencing and some fencing manga rep would be cool

Hickey would be an interesting pick, but I went with fencing. I feel like it would be really easy for a fencing manga to gain traction in Jump. It looks like sword fighting to the average person (or at least me), so I think it can grab the attention of new readers.

Some of the other sports (baseball, soccer) I feel are already popular in other magazines, and I’m not sure how sports like surfing and skateboarding are in Japan can fit the Jump formula.

I voted snowboarding

It will be good for Jump to try to make a difference and try to bring something new.

I don't follow sports that regularly, but I would consider myself a very casual hockey fan (it's fantastic watching in person) so that is what I voted for, granted I didn't have strong feelings towards Hot one way or another. Honestly though, I think as long as it's done well, I wouldn't mind any sport, I had no interest in volleyball before I started volleyball, but it made me realize it's a pretty cool and fun sport.

As an avid runner, it saddens me to see Track and Field not mentioned on the poll :(
I can't add every sport, unfortunately. I've already excluded a lot of them already.

(Pool/Darts/Golf/Cricket/Automobile Racing/etc.)

Side note, have you watched Run With The Wind? A good chunk of the staff that did the first couple seasons of Haikyu! worked on the anime for that, and as someone who likes to run myself, it’s excellent, IMO.

I made a new poll, since we're on the subject of sports.
I'd like to pick Badminton, for one. But I settled on Kendo, since that one, I think could use a little more recognition in the world. I think a good fair amount of the mainstream audience would be more curious in a kendo manga.

As for Badminton, well that's because Badminton is what soccer is to Brazil for my country. Bonus points if it's dual-protagonist focused like Kuroko only this time, it's a boy and girl based on Alan Budikusuma and Susy Susanti.

I said before, but saying again, i think SJ should try a new basket series.

Going with tennis because it's one of the four big sports, and it deserves better representation in Jump's canon than Prince of Tennis.
You get all butthurt when someone try to imply that Yaiba isn't worth beating OP or something like that but you're here basically implying that Prince of Tennis don't deserve to represent tennis series in Jump despite being one of the biggest sport franchises in history lol

Not to mention, what's wrong with Prince of Tennis? It's hot blooded and fun as fuck. Just because it's not realistic doesn't make it bad. Kuroko no Basket gets the same sorts of criticism but it's exactly why I love both series.

In other news, it seems we may have a budding mangaka in the making:

Murata's daughter got quite the potential there. I'm pretty sure most 10-year olds would kill to be able to draw as well as she does. Aida Iro's style is so distinct, that I think it would be fairly hard to emulate, but here she is, almost effortlessly drawing them. She's 10 for crying out loud!!!

Given that Jump has an interest in female mangakas, y'guys reckon they're already scouting her? I wouldn't be surprised if in the next 5 years she's offered a one-shot.

I believed that World Trigger one for a second, but maybe that's just because I'd kill for it to be real.

After enjoying a shitload of spokon about a shitload of sport that I don't really care about: real football (which I pretend to care about because everyone I know care about), badminton, baseball (which nobody but Japanese, American, and maybe Cubans care about), drinking... I mean diving, sumo wrestling, boxing, e-sport (is this even real sport), even freaking ping pong and so on. I don't think the subject of sport actually matter that much in spokon.
So I vote fishing for the lulz, or maybe I just want something comfy and free from competitive attitude.
