Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

So, does he count as a furry, or do insect human hybrids have their own nomenclature? :huh :derp

Wow I never heard of Mr. Fullswing and it lasted for quite a while. I'm surprised it didn't get an anime because with that many chapters it seemed pretty popular if it lasted that long.

It was a baseball gag manga from what I remember, and gag stuff often don't get anime in wsj. Even in recent years Saiki took quite a while to get animated, and isobee only got a series of 30 second shorts.

Is there actually any confirmation that Psyren was axed because from my memory it ended pretty much right where it should.
There's no confirmation it was axed, but it isn't exactly unusual to not have confirmation. However it's sales had peaked at around 100k, it had fallen to spending most of it's time in the bottom 5, and around half a year before the ending the pace suddenly picked up by a lot. If memory serves, some of the final fights were kinda rushed as well. Those are pretty good signs it was cancelled. It's just that as the series had been around for more than 2 years, they seem to have given it around half a year in which to wrap the story up.

Rookies which was also a baseball manga and I think more popular than Mr.Fullswing ran alongside it IIRC and it also never got an anime adaptation... Jump and baseball just don't mix I guess haha

Mashle, Undead unluck, Yozakura and Agravity boys.
four manga with the potential to grow and attract a new audience.
And jump still insists on wanting to prolong manga like kimetsu, TPN and WnL.

....None of those series are being "prolonged".

They are literally authorial choices.

Stop spreading blind accusations.

Regardless of who belongs to a choice. These series are being extended.
Wnl is practically an undead, the idea of ending parallels seemed cool but now it is not but.
And kimetsu can become the new bleach, depending on how the next chapters will be.
I want to be wrong with Kimetsu but what is showing itself is not promising.

You really need to stop with this thing against WNL, it's something decided by Tsutsui much before everybody knew and Uruka was just the first route not the "real one", the series isn't being extended but going according the author's plan.

You're posting total nonsense here. Kimetsu is literally more popular than One Piece right now, Neverland's still going strong in popularity with an anime s2 upcoming, and WNL is still doing really well too with a very unique and memorable finale (in addition to them having no new popular romcom to replace it).

Meanwhile Yozakura and Agravity Boys are spending most of their time in the bottom 5 (agravity boys is dead last this issue even). It's unlikely for Yozakura or Agravity Boys to last until the end of the year (like someone posted, only 1 series has survived a dead last early ranking and it's a unique genre for the magazine), never mind being able to replace top series.

Regarding Goku and Chichi, I remember an interview with Toriyama where he said the reason Goku married Chichi is was something like he didn't like her character at all, and decided to have them get married as a way to force himself to keep Chichi in the story.
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

Here it is

Who do you prefer: Bulma or Chi-Chi?

Toriyama:
To be honest, I’m really not fond of Chi-Chi as a character. (laughs) In the middle of the comic, I started to think, “I don’t want to draw her anymore,” and, sort of as a way of spiting myself, I decided, “you’ll have to draw her if she gets married to Goku, so marry them off!” So, I drew her as a kind of punishment. (laughs)
Makes me wonder if there are other plot points we've had in series that happened because the author was punishing themselves.

Notice this hasn't been brought up, but here's Shinhei explaining how the restructuring during quarantine is working.

Worth noting that 2011 also had an issue delay due to the Touhoku earthquake. Anyone know how exactly it was handled there?

sales and popularity of anime does not guarantee a good ending for a series.
otherwise, no one would have complained about the end of Naruto or the end of Bleach.
I already discuss a lot about Kimetsu in the pot of manga, I don't want to discuss it here. But I'm just going to say that making another arc will kill the manga. I hope I'm wrong but the retrospective doesn't help.

Regarding the other manga, Yozakura, Agravity boys and Undead unluck are doing relatively well for newbies and also with this problem of COVID 19, even with the positions in TOC nothing prevents them from growing.

You still make absolutely no sense.

Naruto was never extended? Like, at all. And, shipping aside, few people had issues with the ending itself. It's the stuff before with Kaguya that is sharply disliked.

Bleach's ending is disliked because Kubo had to rush it because of his declining health. It is literally the oppisite of an "extended ending".

Anyway, you have zero evidence to the idea of Kimetsu being extended, all you're doing is opening up blind theories. None of that gives your argument any validity.

Ok. It was the author's decision, you are right.
But so far it's not been a good decision. The manga doesn't have so much to offer anymore and I think it would be more fair to give the positions he receives in the magazine to some of the newbies (Yozakura, agravity and undead unluck).
