Going to track MangaCross originals now. Not much extra work.
I wonder if WSC will rotate between its pillars every month in Yowamushi Pedal, BEASTARS, and Iruma-kun. Sounds like a good strategy. Though not as good as pairing Iruma-kun volumes with Makai volumes for the extra synergy cause good lord, Makai's still fucking charting on Shoseki. And I mean, it's recent daily placing was #100. A fucking spinoff of a newly established pillar is on its way to outsell the entire fucking magazine.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to learn more about newly discovered manga Princess of the Princess.

Seems like a pretty solid first week for Koe no? Happy for it, I've enjoyed what's been scanlated of it. Wish Shy pulled some better numbers, but it doesn't seem to be in danger or anything.

Yeah, Koe and Meika are definitely gonna last, though I had higher expectations for those since they’re popular webcomics that recurved a serialization.

As for SHY, I wish it improved, but it’ll survive. It’s doing better than Ippon currently, which has lasted for 9 volumes and hasn’t charted in Weekly Shoseki recently. Not to mention the newbies flopping. As long as SHY isn’t dropping in numbers, it’ll be fine.

-Mute Girl's off to what I'd say is a pretty good start. Meika-san's off to what I'd say a decent start. I'm keeping in mind the higher expectations I have for both of these since they were popular web manga.
-SHY charted again! With it's highest weekly ranking no less! I don't think it'll chart for a second week though, which sucks, but hey, the series is stable, and it's currently doing better than some of the other newbies. It'll survive. Hopefully it can increase those sales, though.
-With Rorroro not even charting and BokuYaba gone, that's all we'll see of Norio Sakurai's work on here for a good couple months. Still, BokuYaba's becoming a real winner here. Anime adaptation fucking when?
-Another winner is Makai. It's slowly dawning on me that it'll easily surpass Iruma's peak with just one volume. And Makai hasn't left the Shoseki daily rankings since it launched - FFS, it's selling more in it's 4th and 5th weeks. There's definitely an upward trend we'll see with Volume 2. How far can it go up, and can Iruma keep up as well? It's so weird having a spinoff sell this much, because I feel like it might affect the main series and maybe give newcomers to Iruma's world a misguided impression.

God damn, the art evolution on Iruma is honestly kind of amazing. Like, I really feel as if Nishi found a specific style over the course of the series and it works. I also wonder if she started with traditional coloring but then switched to digital coloring.

Yeah, it's really likely that the lockdown sapped some of BEASTARS sales. Last volume came out during the lockdown and had a 5-day FW, and it sold 37,419 copies.


SHOSEKI DAILY STUFF:
-After 37 days, Makai has exited the Top 500. I was honestly surprised. Maybe the supplies hit a constraint again, because the decline was pretty fucking sharp. I mean, the official print count given was 100,000 copies, and the Shoseki estimations are nearing that number. Still, an insane debut. Iruma's still charting along, which is nice!
-I'm beginning to worry for Meika-san. It fell outta the Shoseki Top 500 on July 14, and I haven't heard any reprint announcements. If it keeps selling at it's level, it'll definitely be a stable series, but I still feel like it definitely could've done better. Especially when compared to Mute Girl, which is charting quite nicely in the 200s, so it's definitely ranking a second week. Now that's what I'm prematurely calling a success.

Hmm... Nazuna's Twitter has 189 followers in 12 days, when it made it's very first tweet. I don't see it as a good sales sign, to be honest. Especially since the last account that I remember opening, SHY, got over 500 in 21 hours and even that series is doing barely enough to survive and establish itself.

I have higher hopes for Kuzuhana, though that's mainly personal bias since I'm reading the manga and I like it.

-Mute Girl charted lower than I expected, but I honestly think it's 11K debut is good overall. I'm excited to see it potentially improve as more volumes release!
-Meika-san didn't chart, and as I stated earlier, I'm beginning to worry for it. If it can keep itself stable, it will establish itself. Should be easy to do, since it's proven itself as a web manga so it should have a bit of an audience built in.
-SHY fell out, as expected. Still on it's way to establishing itself, since it's at least doing better than the obbvious axes.
-Just as I note that Makai fell out of the Top 500 dailies, it comes mack and comes close to hitting the Top 150 in subsequent days. Damn, the fucking supply on this thing must be constrained - it's estimated numbers are not greater than it's official print count.
