My god shinuki, I called the batch a total failure because it is, 3 series out of 3 are flops, how else are you going to call it?

By judging what's around it you can get an expectation of how it'll actually do on weekly, if it debuts below a poor performer what can you expect if not a poor performance? Even if it ends up holding better and does better on weekly the number is not going to be far from it and it's going to be low, unless those series end up having miracolous hold on the chart. If you just say "yeah but let's wait for volume 2 and see if it grows" for everything then nothing is a flop. It did poorly, what other proof do you need when the number is in front of you lol.

I don't know what jump expected but gags still need to sell even if they need to sell less, they're not going to be happy with stuff doing mitama/agravity numbers in WSJ, why we're even having this conversation is beyond me and I'll just drop it because there is no point.

savethecat already said pretty much everything i wanted to say, but saying again, you're just jumping into calling Moriking a flop too fast and early without knowing what Jump expected from it and etc, if end up flopping for real, too bad, but so far reception has been pretty decent to good, nothing that shows that the manga is dead or it can just grow like any other

Moriking falls to the bottom in the previous TOC.

So, it is always possible the first promotion was a mistake because they originally though the reception was better.

Like i said in the first time, every newbie has been getting low positions from time to time, even Mashle got one very close to the bottom, unless the manga really start to be in the rock bottom or bottom, isn't much of a case to be worried.

So, while I think it's safe to declare Mashle established at this point, do you guys think Yozakura should be considered as such?

That's like asking why Samurai 8 (or many other newbies) despite selling thousands of copies more still got canceled with other series selling much less being in the magazine until now, i think is pretty safe to assume that 1. Jump expectations for X series is different than Y series (specially considering a gag) and 2. Overall reception, TPG reception has been largely mixed to say the least while Moriking is the total opposite.

Also, Moriking starting in certain position, doesn't mean the manga is suddenly unable to grow from that in the next volumes, my point is about jumping the gun calling the series a total failure lol.

It is true that expectatives could be different.

Maybe Moriking reach a younger audience, which is always important for the WSJ. Or maybe the position in the magazine poll is really good.


That said, Samurai 8 lasts 5 volumes, I don't think many series that sell less than Samurai 8 will have more volumes. Also, Samurai 8 seems to have a strong fall on sales.

I would consider it so, but it seems to be that no matter it's growth or how long it survives, it will be considered the one that "just got lucky" time and time again, so. Maybe we'll wait a few more volumes and see if everyone can reach a consensus on it.

Is 77 then really low on daily? Because I remember that while Mashle 1 stayed for a long time in the top500 it was usually in the 450+ places and then it disappeared a couple days ago.

It's quite high, which makes me wonder how high the print of that reprint was. It kept ranking on daily for like 50 days or so, and left a few days ago. Checked exactly, and it kept ranking until July 26th, 53rd day since Volume 1 was out. Haven't appeared since then until today.

Ya'll arguing about Moriking and Mitama while I'm here trying to figure out why not many are talking about Mashle's positions.

I guess this confirms Bone is completely dead. Moriking and Ghost are looking pretty unsafe too if they're both starting off worse than Mitama v1 did, Moriking at least has had mostly good ToC so far to keep it going for a bit even if sales are low, but performing worse than Mitama v1 would be really bad news for a dead last series like Ghost.

It's nice to see Yozakura potentially growing but I still don't think it's safe yet, if we get a bunch of real hits or it starts to drop in sales then it'd be done. Though with the current state of the magazine, it's performing just well enough that I suppose it could end up being held afloat by new flops long enough to get a full run.

I'd say:
Ayakashi Triangle - High/Mid
Me & Roboco - Mid
Magu-chan: God of Destruction - Mid/Low
Hard-boiled Cop and Dolphin - Low

I would say Roboko will start at the middle before going down to dead last and take up the “gag spot”, and Magu-chan will be right above it with the occasional placement in the middle.
