Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

These are numbers in print, not sold right? Which means that even if everyone bought all the volumes available, it won’t reach beyond that number.

"Regarding act-age, the victims, Shiro Usazaki, the editorial department and the people involved in the Stage Play, as a fan it's really hard to speak feeling such anger, regret, and sadness. I’m keenly aware that at any given time we should act with a certain degree of pride in front of others".

Don't know how exactly accurate the translation we managed to get is, but I think it gives a hint at how Tsutsui is feeling. Really happy to see they're worried and prepared to give their support to fellow partners in the magazine.
Not to mention that Taishi is also a father with a daughter of his own.... you can guess how he feels about this.

I'd put Yozakura Family in Safe/Rising tier. Its numbers are good and it will have stuff for its 1st anniversary.

That said, counting the upcoming batch, Jump would have started 16 series this 2020. Record lies in 1994 with 18 series. A record that can easily be overcome if Jump gets a new serialization batch of 3 series in october or november.
It's a tough call but I'd say I'm still in the camp of it being just a little below Mashle/Undead Unluck right now. I basically agree with what others said a few pages back on that topic. I don't think it's going to end soon but it was still dead last 6 issues ago and once the latest four series all start ranking it could still be in the bottom 5. If it proves not to be in a few months still then I'll consider it to be safe/rising (and also hope the story goes in a direction befitting a longer length).

@ItsSamu

Back when Naruto ended in 2014 we all speculated the same, then in 2016 too, Iirc Bleach, Nisekoi, AssClass, Kochikame all ended... And that very same year Kimetsu starterted...

So what I'm trying to say is Jump will recover, sure it will never reach Dragon Ball levels again and I think when One Piece ends... Well I don't know what's gonna happen when its main series ends haha but we have seen Jump lose lots of super popular manga in the last couple of years and "recovering". (Sure the circulation numbers go lower and lower but that happens pretty much with every manga magazine )
Oh don't worry, I'm not willing to call this the end of the magazine by any means. After its recent losses I'm more trying to remain positive that there's still so many new faces yet to fill the magazine that we don't even know about yet. I know I'm looking forward to all of the next batch at least!

It's a shame that one of the best Jump Manga in last years ends this way, but Shueisha takes the best decision.

It was impossible end Act-Age in a few more chapters and changing the writer it isn't a viable plan.

Well, like i said in my twitter, a disgrace, over two years of hard work, a stage play and possibly anime in the work, all wasted for a quickly harrassment in the street by the writer, throwed his reputation in the trash can. I wasnt even reading Act-Age but is impossible to not get sad by the depressive situation. Hope the best for Usazaki that she will find another partner if she cant really write, and for Matsuki, that he uses all the time he will have to deeply reavaluate his life and decisions that lead to all this disaster and problems to everybody.

About the "last chapter", i will include in the poll, i dont think is right to pretend that the series dont exist anymore like Viz will do, its published and Usazaki worked hard on it, will be the "goodbye" so the fans who want to give their last votes wil be able to and i believe it will be translated by fans too.

It could have ended with a funeral chapter, Kei's funeral. You don't need to be am amazing writer for that, to have everyone show up and mourn Kei who died before she could become an amazing and world famous actress. And in some way it did end with a funeral. Ch.123 which won't get translated in english ends with a grave. Fitting, tragically fitting.

@Halloween I know you will probably say no, but do you think the readers here who were fans of AA can after the last voting for the last AA chapter do some sort of "RiP" post for Act-Age and its characters? Like posting art from the character they liked the most or a scene they liked a lot or a CP which impressed them or name the one thing they would have wanted to see in the series if it had run its course like Kuroyama's movie, Kei meeting her father, the potential romance with Akira, etc?

That's probably better suited for the AA thread, but given the circumstances, I'd say it's alright. This could help with the grieving process, I suppose.

I predict there will be fans dedicated enough to create a fan ending, like the ichigo 100% one
What?! Didn't know Ichigo 100% had a fan ending? What's the name or how should I look for it?

I'm sure everyone here will support Shiro Usazaki's next work whenever it comes. I knew her art was special from chapter 4 when this scene happened. You can feel Yonagi's pain:

I'll happily follow whatever she puts out in future. She's proven she could do almost anything - romance/slice of life wouldn't be too far off what we see now, anything historical would look great, but I'd be confident she could excel at an action/battle shonen with all the amazing on stage moments she brought to life.

I believe they will compilate the last chapters right? maybe Usazaki could draw a "ending" special chapter in the last volume by her own just for the sake of giving some closure to the story for the fans because it will be really bizarre the last volume just end in the middle of something.

Good morning, I hate Matsuki Tatsuya.
Did I miss anything Jump related beside Matsuki Tatsuya is an absolute horribly, despicable, worthless, nasty, lowlife human waste; act-age become axe-age and have a peculiar bump in sale?
Sorry for late reaction, but that news hit me like a truck. Thank god I was busy last weekend, or else who knows how terrible this news would have messed me up.
Rip Yonagi Kei and her stardom dream. May she live on in a better timeline where her writer actually has some basic human decency.
May Usazaki Shiro move on and find success with her spectacular art.

Also, back to something somewhat uplifting. After knowing Fujimoto drew inspiration from Abara, I reread it (reading good manga is a good way to distract you from horrible reality, I highly recommend doing it). And holy crap, its "main" character has Denji as his name, and his circumstance has some similar with our Denji's circumstance.

Damn! This is really depressing all over again! It really was an amazing combo! Art in places like this and writing in places like galactic railroad arc. It was just last week, we all ranked act-age. I really wish she bounces back soon, her eyes were really one of the most expressive in almost all Manga i have read.

Wouldn't be the first time a Jump manga gets a crazy weird abrupt ending, have you heard of princess hao?

But I think they cancelled volume 13?? As in no more volumes?

Thanks So much Kei. You deserved better 😞😞
I'm actually tearing up and I've never even read this manga. So much potential, so much talent, so many fans... A really great manga that died for reasons that weren't it's own. (Unless you count the writer as part of the "own".)

So, we've lost Kimetsu, Neverland, Haikyuu, Yuuna, and now Act-Age. Within a year. And WNL and Chainsaw Man are very likely going away next year. Jump will definitely rebuild, that's a sure thing - but who knows how long that'll take. I expected 2020 to be the most seismic year for Jump since 2016, but I didn't think we'd actually be surpassing that year.

I look forward to the artist's next work. Will definitely be reading that one, no matter how good it ends up being.

WNL will end this year. It only has 2 arcs left, each taking like 6 chapters or so. CSM ends next year.

Each arc is 9 chapters, actually, so it has 18 chapters left. It'll just barely last for the rest of the year. It won't make it out of Winter 2021, though.

On a positive note Shiro has removed all Act-Age stuff from her twitter Bio, and now it simply just say “I am a manga artist”

So it seems like she’s definitely going to move forward with her career; and not stopping, like we feared.

I'm really happy she's sticking around. She's a real valuable talent. Also, 85.4K followers, nice.
