Moderator Notice: Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.
These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I feel like that’s a completely false narrative created by some ppl.
It’s not so much that the MC is a plagiarist. It’s that, despite recognizing that he’s doing something wrong, he never back down from what he’s doing. He continues to do it, and cries “woe-is-me”. And despite all of this, he’s never reprimanded for this. He’s constantly rewarded and is told about how great he is constantly.
I’m pretty sure that the plagiarism angle would have worked, even for a Japanese audience, had it been executed better. The problem ppl had was that the MC became more and more unlikable every chapter, to the point that he could no longer be relatable, and readers could no longer sympathize with him at a certain point. I doubt Japan hates plagiarism so much that they’d outright boycott a series for having it asa topic. If the series executed the issue of plagiarism better than they would have bought and followed it
It's disappointing about the MC's lack of growth since I actually thought he was pretty alright in the first chapter.
It's just I expected that whiny side to change as it went on.
If I wanted to look at someone who was constantly whining, I'd just look in the mirror (Self burn high five)
Date was the artist of Tokyo wonder boys, Gross account (where he also wrote the script) and TPGW.
He had three jobs canceled, I don't know if he will return for a fourth attempt. Maybe in another magazine.

Yeah I know, the supposed 3 strikes rule doesn’t apply here since he was the artist for only two of those series, so he can still come back with another author
Now if he wants to come back to Jump specifically is another matter
Good result from shakunetsu, but it's kind of standard this placement already.
Honestly, I don't know how to say that the manga is being well accepted or not.
Bone collection was 4th at the start and then had a giant drop over time.

Everyone saw it coming by now I suppose but goodbye to the biggest disaster of a new series in Jump in a long, long time.
You'd think a unique premise and bunch of crazy twists like that combined with great art would be a guaranteed success (at least for a few batches), but it was almost impressive to see how the series repeatedly did absolutely nothing interesting with its cool ideas, literally every single new twist just ended up being more justification for Teppei to keep doing the same thing and never change or improve. I don't think I've ever seen a series waste such easy ideas so badly and repeatedly like it did.
Oh well, I guess we've still got Summer Time Rendering in Jump+ as a series that actually does some fun things with its time shenanigans.
In other ToC comments, it's interesting to have 3 new series in a row all hit the top 5 on their first ranking. Though we've just seen from Bone that a great first couple placements doesn't necessarily mean it's safe even until ch 19, so I guess it's still possible for the 3 of them to drop to the bottom over their next few chapters.

What's the 4th colour page next week? If Burn the Witch has one for all 4 chapters, that means 3 of them are
Burn the Witch
Honomieru Shounen
and the new series
It's the artists 3rd series, not the writers 3rd series. The amount of attempts also doesn't apply to mangaka that are only doing the art. For example Obata (the artist of Hikaru no Go, Death Note and Bakuman) had 4 failed attempts before he succeeded with Hikaru no Go. He only made one of those 4 series by himself and was just the artist for the other 3 series.
From the 3 series that Tsunehiro Date has worked on so far, he only made Cross Account by himself. So he is in a very similar spot to Obata back in the 90's. So I don't see why they wouldn't give him the chance to return as an artist with the same or a different writer. His art is definitely good enough to make it in Jump, he just needs a good writer.

That means Burn the Witch, Koukousei Kazoku and Bokura no Ketsumei have guaranteed CPs and then another random series will get the last CP (or they only give CPs to 3 series, wouldn't be the first time). Expecting Jujutsu Kaisen to get the cover on either issue #42 or #43 because of the anime. Black Clover and Dr. Stone should get a cover soon because they still have to announce the popularity polls' results. Apart from that, it's hard to predict what will get the cover since there are only 7 established series. Maybe we'll see a Mashle or an Undead Unluck cover soon? There'll probably be random One Piece covers as usual. But then again another serialization round can happen and take over the amount of covers lol.
Is this unique though? It has happened with every single literal series that has been axed since Tokyo Shinobi Squad. Cancellation threads at this point are a repetition of the same commentary no matter what the quality of the series is.
TSS and other axes have their own salty fans, but they are tiny and easy to dismiss, compare to the scale of TPGW, that scope of lash out and denial, which somewhat reminiscing me of S8 (hard to believe both of them got axed in the same year, 2020 keep on giving).
Also, I never claim salty fans are unique to TPGW.
Welp.... a person with an actual big audience has spread the misinformation that the only reason TPGW dropped in quality is because the writer was “forced” to change the direction of his series due to ppl not being able to handle the premise

It's canned. Let people think whatever they want. They're just beating a dead horse. The only thing that really matters is that Japan didn't like it, and nothing anyone says will change that fact.
