It's 2 AM here and it's the only window of time I got between today and tomorrow to share my rankings! I need to be fast because you are already moving on with the thread focus, lol.
1. Burn the Witch: In four chapters this really climbed my rankings, this last chapter was hot! And definitely the kind of action manga that we need more on Jump. After its bland debut I would never have imagined that I can't wait to read the next season. Also I finally figured out what shows that this world and Bleach are connected: it's the way you cast magic spells.
2. Undead Unluck: Unexpected turn of events, that still didn't feel forced and merges well with the flow of the narration. The new missions themselves are looking cool, what is going to happen now?
3. Chainsaw Man: A breather chapter after all that chaos that was necessary. I liked the explanation of all the motives and the twist about the nature of the chainsaw devil (although it feels Undead-Unluckily, but it's an original concept so I'm cool with a reinforced exploration). Next chapter, back to chaos!
4. Hard-boiled cop and Dolphin: Can I say it? Am I talking too early? I feel the manga has finally found its formula. The story is good, the characters are cool, the comedy is spot-on, and I really wanted to be able to read that double spread so I could understand more if I missed some important story part. Please like it, japanese readers!
5. Jujutsu Kaisen: Great battle coreography and I'm happy these two characters get to clash one more time for what I hope is the decisive confrontation between them. I liked a lot the callbacks to their previous fight.
6. One piece: It was interesting to focus on this character for the week. I'm curious about how he and Luffy will interact.
7. Phantom seer: The first really interesting chapters of this series for me! The idea of reusing defeated phantoms powers may be old but I always like it. Also the relationship between the main couple is starting to grow, their monents together were funny.
8. Black Clover: I still think they don't have a chance against the baddies, but at least they seem determined enough to sell their skin dearly.
9. Our blood oath: It really felt like "more of the same". I liked some aspects, like the fact that there is a main goal set (reach the guy who ruined their life) and that they will have to fight against the prejudice of fellow vampires. But it is again the same exorcist manga with the same starting formula. I may get overdosed by this like I am getting overdosed by gags.
10. Mashle: Here I am getting the opposite vibe: while I enjoyed the recent serious chapters I am now getting fed up with them. You have not the ability to create interesting situations like your colleagues up there in the chart, so it may be time to return to our hero Mashle doing Mashle things (and we'll probably get them soon enough, it seems).
11. Me & Roboco: Speaking of gag overdose, the best gag manga of the week gets a pretty low ranking this time. The gorilla presumed "kindness" gets too much stressed out for my taste, but when Roboco launches him it's always funny. And on the bright side, the fact that it can take time to focus a chapter on a side character could mean that the series is not in a risk to disappear any sooner.
12. High school family: Kokosei Kazoku: I still get the problem of the initial premise stressed out but for the first chapter it's forgivable. There were a couple of parts that made me really laugh but now I don't remember what they were. Not a good sign probably.
13. Magu-chan: God of destruction: This week felt like filler. And while cool new characters like last week's are the type I like most, hyperactive new characters like this week's get easily on my nerves. I'm starting to fear that the formula won't work forever.
14. Mission: Yozakura family: And back to comedy it went. And with a forgettable chapter at that. I'll accept the filler, but please make it more interesting next time.
15. Ayakashi triangle: You know, for the first time I thought the chapter was good: plot development, interesting new character...I was going to rate it high. And then tentacles happened.
16. Moriking: I ranked it 3rd last week. Humour really is subjective, isnt'it? Too much fillery for me this time.
Binge update. My Hero Academia: currently at chapter 125. Since last time I got an epic clash between mentors with heavy consequences, a new exam arc, an heated confrontation between longtime rivals and new cool senpais to look after. Couldn't get more Shonen Jump than that.
