Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I mean...is it fair to say that any Shonen Jump series is a "kids" series? There already is a children's manga demographic with stuff like Corocoro. And Shonen is it's own demographic after Children's manga.
What do you think the word shonen translates to?
Pre-teens and early teens represent the "boy" demographic and are still kids.

Yozakura holding pretty nicely from where it was before. Roboco not doing too bad, but I'm really fearing Magu-chan stock issues are starting to cripple its numbers. Magu-chan on Amazon says that it'll ship within 1 to 2 days, whereas Roboco/Dolphin/Yozakura all still say In Stock.

End of first week, the weekly one will be posted few hours but some interesting stuff, but now Yozakura #5 is showing some real progress, this 5th day was far better than the 5th day of all later volumes, really curious to see how much the estimate will be but i really think will have a grow

Yozakura Family:

Vol.1: #40 > #60 > #69 > #114 > #125
Vol.2: #47 > #63 > #145 > #57 > #109
Vol.3: #41 > #69 > #67 > #86 > #151
Vol.4: #16 > #52 > #71 > #114 > #114
Vol.5: #43 > #69 > #73 > #83 > #74

Seems like stock stuff is in play with Magu-chan but still, for Cop & Dolphin to hold above still really cool, it's the best hold of the day (between the 3), only 14 positions drop.

Magu-chan

Vol.1: #40 > #89 > #96 > #194 > #238

Cop & Dolphin

Vol.1: #63 > #91 > #118 > #209 > #223

Me & Roboco

Vol.1: #44 > #90 > #105 > #149 > #178

If anything, I'd say Yozakura is doing noticeably better than before, especially since with each subsequent volume that's been released, there's been more Kimetsu and now Jujutsu backlog volumes hogging up the top 100 spots, making it harder for newbies to rank passably.

I wonder how many WSJ mangaka use pen names over their real names. Gotōge was always one I suspected of just having a pen name. I feel like it wouldn’t be that shocking if Usazaki doesn’t use her real name either

Well I tend to consider Shonen stuff as adolescent manga since calling Chainsaw Man a kids manga feels wrong to me.
But all these labels are really abitrary since there are Shonens like Violence Jack (original series) while there are Seinens like K-On!.

Well while Jump has always had those occasionally series like Hunter x Hunter, Death Note and Chainsaw Man to name a few which seemed aimed at an older demographic (and often for the type who grew up reading WSJ) I'd say the vast majority of series fit pretty firmly for the ages of 10-16, often even a little younger.

Most shonen aren’t aimed at little kids though mainly preteens and teenagers. This also depends on the magazine as most shonen jump series are aimed at preteens and younger teens with exceptions like death note and CSM. While most manga in weekly shonen magazine is clearly aimed at older teens (people around my age).

Now this doesn’t mean shonen magazines don’t put out “kids” manga. Dr slump, MCGOD, and me and roboco is clearly trying to appeal to a younger audience but at the same time it also appeals to jump’s cour audience. Dr slump’s innuendos, M&R constant parodies, and Magu giving a more chill series with all of the intense stuff going on in current jump’s battle shonen.

Shueisha occasionally puts out age demographics of WSJ's readers, the most recent I've seen is from 2018

Weekly Shonen Jump
- 27.4% of readers are 25 years old or older
- 25.8% are 19-24 years old
- 17.6% are 16-18 years old
- 16.4% are 13-15 years old
- 9.6% are 10-12 years old
- 3.2% are nine years old or younger.

Just saying, but Shin-chan is seinen. Stop obsessing so much over labels lol.
Agreed that labels aren’t important especially regarding demographics (especially since demographics cover a wide range of genres) just trying to lessen the confusion on certain topics as there is a lot of misconceptions about shonen anime/manga.

So probably between 7k-9k for both Roboco and Magu, and 6k-8k for Dolphin.

How does that compare to Agravity Boys' volumes' first weeks? Wondering if this will essentially confirm its death in a couple batches.
