Red Sprite had the "Its replacing Bleach" thing going on in the internet at the time
My opinion is not based actually on the general reception in the first chapters because I know it's too soon to know how they will perform; as I said before: Build King - veteran author and Jump editors pushing it to be a hit; Sakamoto Days - different approach to the other series on the roaster, it could differentiate itself from the others manga and stand out.people seem to base a series success chances on the general reception it gets in the first few chapters. Of course the problem with that is most people here only get western views or an extremely limited set from Twitter. If you go back to when it started there were people calling TPGW a success already and I wasn't around but I'm sure Red Sprite had it as well.
to be fair though that doesn't really mean much as Samurai 8 showed. I didn't realize the person I was replying to was talking about you though since I have seen multiple people making the same claims of those two being "safe" so I apologize.as I said before: Build King - veteran author and Jump editors pushing it to be a hit
This is not a doubt, Roboko is safe. sold 10K and could very well be placed in the bottom positions like any traditional gag.In my opinion Roboco is 100% safe, is clearly popular and is their best selling new (traditional) gag series since Isobe, so it has pretty much a sweet spot in the magazine at the moment.
Edit: I know Tomatoypoo did well but it got moved to Plus quickly.
I completely forgot this was in Shonen jump in 2017. I remember this manga had the most obscure references and it's still ongoing in Jump plusI know Tomatoypoo did well but it got moved to Plus quickly.
Well, many complained about the fact that phantom seer is like jujutsu and has the monster of the week.I have trouble finding a reason to put Magu-chan and Roboco in different tiers of safety right now when they’re pretty much neck-and-neck in almost every way. Both first volumes were very close to each other in sales (Magu was ahead initially but Roboco ultimately edged it out slightly due to more stable stock; either way the numbers weren’t far apart at all). People have been citing Roboco having much higher ToC placements as evidence that it’s safer but this week turned everything around; if Magu keeps hovering around the first quarter or at least the first half for a few more weeks then it’ll have experienced pretty much the same pattern Roboco did. Either way, both of them are clearly ahead of their similar-genre contemporaries in the magazine (if we’re not counting Mashle as a straight comedy anymore) unless HSF pulls out miracle sales, and as I’ve said we don’t know for certain whether Sakamoto will stay episodic action comedy or go into more serious arcs. Basically I think Magu and Roboco should both be in safe tier for at least half a year’s worth of serialization rounds and we’ll have to see if they grow a bit with volume 2—I‘m fairly confident Magu will, Roboco probably will too since its later chapters are generally better received than its earlier ones. It’s too early to call either one of them more likely to get axed over the other imo.
2010 I think was the first year I started following new jump manga (not the ToC, just coming across random series that were new), I remember it had a few different series that started off really well but just couldn't keep it up. Like Lock On! which was one of those rare series that got a colour page but still ended U19.At least 2020 has started the new decade off with some hits. I still have PTSD from 2010 when there were absolutely no new hits that started that decade. Wouldn’t be until late 2011 when Nisekoi would be the decade’s first success.
Decent hold for everything nameworthy except for Ghost Girl. I'm pretty bummed out to see it tanking as badly as it is since I thought it was both well-drawn and funny.Shoseki Daily Ranking - 12/5

To be fair for Magu-chan and Roboco, most of that was them falling fully underneath the Kimetsu/JJK wall since they managed to break in between it for their first days. I think Dolphin might've been over a few too, plus the Chainsaw Man backlog was thriving back then too. I believe Phantom Seer started underneath essentially all of Kimetsu/JJK's backlogPhantom Seer hold very well in the 2nd day, in a matter of "ranking" it dropped way less than Magu-chan, Dolphin and Roboco:
Magu-chan
Vol.1: #40 > #89
Cop & Dolphin
Vol.1: #63 > #91
Me & Roboco
Vol.1: #44 > #90
Phantom Seer
Vol.1: #76 > #93
