Not netflix jail! I'll be surprised and disappointed if it'll be a netflix exclusive
It would actually be a better choice since Chainsaw Man is pretty gory and Netflix doesn’t censor stuff

It's obviously not netflix exclusive, even on the magazine they very clearly wrote "TV".

Just because something is on netflix doesn't mean it's an exclusive.

Oof. The only option left, it seems, is the show going to Netflix jail. Where discussion is split because Netflix’s binge model dont work well with the anime community with licensed shows. (assuming Netflix holds worldwide rights). Still, CSM is a big get for Netflix, since Funi has HeroAca, CR has Jujutsu and Dr. Stone, and Aniplex has Demon Slayer (even ignoring the fact that the three companies I listed are now owned by Sony).

It doesn't mean netflix holds worldwide rights or that CSM is gonna be netflix jailed either. Just for the record Jujutsu is on netflix too in Japan despite airing on TV and being on crunchyroll. It likely just means it will also, but not exclusively, be on netflix.

It should be noted that Funimation reported on the Chainsaw Man anime being announced. It may be nothing.

But they tend to only report on series they acquired licenses for. For Exp. They don’t report on Jujutsu Kaisen at all, and iirc they didn’t even report the new on the anime announcement

Wilted Flower by Hinata Nakamura from GIGA Winter was translated and uploaded to MangaDex.

I can say with pride that this was one of the better manga I have worked on during my "career", it's an absolute engima why this oneshot was in GIGA to begin with. A magazine that essentially serves to promote rejects and newbies, to allow authors to attempt to write a conclusion to a rushed story from main Jump, and to peddle useless merch to people. It is far above anything else published in this magazine, at the very least from what I have seen from it, and I've been following it since its debut, more or less.

Absolutely should have been in the main mag.

Nice. Hopefully some others from the magazine are translated as well!

Thank you for your work! Although... wasn’t NisiOisiN in this GIGA issue? Wouldn’t call him a reject by any stretch, even by pure manga standards.

I was largely exaggerating, but you're right. It's an insult to many talented authors, of which many are successful veterans, such as Nisio Isin. But still, it's largely significantly above the usual GIGA stuff and has no business being here. Seasoned Jump veterans in GIGA at least get people to buy the mag with their name and all, so this still is a big question mark.

That one shot is good. Why they send it to GIGA?

Is it really something that would fit in the main magazine though?

I've always figured oneshots are run in WSJ to test their reception and see if they could be worth serialising, while Jump GIGA is partly for that but also a place for side stuff and other small projects specifically only meant as mini-series and oneshots. Wilting Flower definitely feels to me like a series that's intended to stay as a oneshot.

Though I don't read many oneshots so maybe it's just my lack of experience with them.

I uploaded some interesting looking oneshots from GIGA in Imgur.

Edit: Some others due to people asking for them.

Another one shot to add to this is the one I saw having some form of attention over on Twitter called Tsumibito Toshi (Sin Warrior if I recall correctly)by mangaka Reiya Machida. Of which I happen to come across randomly on Twitter, and all I can say is rather intriguing to say the least.

Although I will not lie, am rather intrigued to see what the heck the likes of Takuma Tateishi (Tozuka's assistant) did with their one shot. Same with Sodekiribashi no Hashiwatashi by Hirao Tomohide (Story) & Matsutani Yuuta (Art)( I happen to be a fan of Ne0lation back then so am glad the author is back to improve i hope, although I do wish to see what the illustrator is doing these days, since she has quite the art style), Shutaro Inui' Sand Storm Boarders (Who am betting big on him making a series this very year with the amount of praise i heard he got).

That one shot was really good, Jump could try shake things in the romance department and serialize this author with a romance/slice of life series with a more "realistic" approach instead of just another typical romcom, i would take this author over a Naoshi comeback any day of the week (unless he writes something different kkkk)

the prototypes for Magu chan, Sakamoto and Mashle were published in GIGA
they didn't get color pages nor any special treatment, then boom they got serialized

so let's be hopeful, maybe this is case like that

I liked Flowers, Ruri Dragon, Sand Storm Boarders a lot so I hope they can become a series either in WSJ or Plus
