Possible, yes. Is anyone actually at that level in the story? Dubious. I'm sure if we had characters as strong as Superman or Thor from the comics, they could easily down a dragon.

We know Zeref can do it with Ankhseram's curse, albeit unintentionally. He has to care about the dragon, or at least life in general, in order for the curse to steal life. Unfortunately that also nerfs his ability to control magic, to the point where Ultear can best him in combat.

Dragons technically aren't immune to magic either. They just have really tough scales, to the point where it's easier to smash a meteor. Stuff like face could work on them.

Because what you just said is not true. Dragons are not immortal creatures 100% immune to other kinds of magic.

Only Acnologia has that immunity.

The other dragons are simply overpowered.

But Acnologia was affected by Fairy Sphere. Maybe he just has high resistance.

I guess there is some sort of higher magic that can affect him, like there has been fire that could affect Natsu from time to time. Before he became a God on Earth.

I wish there was a laughing icon. They explain time and again that only dragon slaying magic effects dragons. Did you skip over the GMG arc bro? They were quite clear only the slayers could effect the dragons. Otherwise why send someone to help Jura?

Zeref’s magic does nothing to dragons. Period. It’s only Ansherham’s curse that has any effect. An it’s the death curse of a God soooo...lmao

Even DS magic barely did anything to dragons, that's precisely why DS magic is needed: because they're so overpowered that even with magic they have a weakness towards they are still hard to take down, so of course they're much harder to kill without DS magic, but never, not even once in the whole manga, has it been said that other magic can't affect dragons.

It's simply that to damage them without the "elemental" DS advantage would require mages much stronger than the ones that already had trouble winning using DS to slay them. Which is why Jura was helped.

They can’t harm Mercphobia without the dragon slayer seal for a reason. An this is them leagues beyond GMG Jura. In every instance they reiterate this.

Yea, cause Merc >>> GMG dragons.
We saw how insanely powerful Acno is, even ignoring his magic eating ability. The guy was strong enough to one shot anyone except full power POF Natsu in Alverez arc, even in his human form. Merc has stats comparable to that. Assume Merc in human form, he should have stats somewhat comparable to human Acno. Will team Natsu be even able to touch him? Of course not!
They couldn't damage Merc even WITH Dragon Slaying magic. If, even with DS magic, Merc can't be harmed, what chance does one have without DS magic?And Merc was even nerfed to < 50% the entire fight. The gap between dragons Gods and team Natsu is just far too high.

GMG dragons were not tickled even by Laxus tier DS magic. We saw how much of an equalizer DS magic is, when Erza one shot an August tier dragon with a single slash. Even that much of an equalizer wasn't enough to even scratch a dragon, with Laxus tier DS magic. How do you expect Jura (Laxus tier) without DS magic to do jackshit to them?

Dragons, throughout the series, was always at a level far superior to humans who faced them, to the point, even to have hopes of damaging them you need a massive equalizer (slayer magic). DS magic becomes a necessity only because they're usually so stupidly powerful.
I believe that every GMG dragon you saw there is stronger than any character in Alverez arc (except Acno of course). Now consider a human of that power level. Will other humans, at GMG Laxus tier at best, be able to damage that human? Of course not!

i find this comment funny for a couple reasons. Mainly cause you used a god tier dragon in comparison to what were foot soldier dragons.

Using your argument, I could argue Merc is immune to DS slaying magic, since none were capable of harming him with until natsu received a boost from another DG.

An see, I find it funny because the argument it’s countering is that the only issue was the weakness of the mages. This is the main cast a year after beating Acno. An they still can’t touch him.

Personally, I didn't like Erza vs Laxus. But yes, I agree with that. Erza vs Kagura and Erza vs Midnight were my favs. Erza vs Ajeel was decent as well.

Don't even necessarily need to be cqc (Midnight fight wasn't and I believe it's regarded as the best Erza fight). Just need to make sense and show some form of strategy/versatility - not just red pants solo.

I hate hax opponents in general. They make fights very asspull-ish; and almost necessarily make the opponents retarded, since CIS from enemies will be the only way good guys can win.

Another problem for me is once someone defeats their hax they’re beaten pretty easily most of the time
