I think this is the first time I have seen these kind of lotteries explicitly saying everyone is receiving a gift, no exceptions. Wonder how many will they have to print.

Well.... I think this all but confirms that Pierrot are going to animate Bleach TYBW. I believe this is the first time they have acknowledged the 20th anniversary publicly and look at the hashtags.

I wonder if it'll replace Black Clover's time slot next season. Or maybe in Summer if they use the slot for a quick one season project first. Would make sense if Pierrot's doing it, would let them potentially easily bring Black Clover back to the same timeslot afterwards since it'll have a decent manga gap by the time Bleach ends.

unless theyre going to suddenly advertise it like crazy, I think next season is impossible, most everything is already having numerous promo videos, ads, and the other usual lead up to debut, and being dated already, I thought most were like shaman king would take that spot instead

Studio Pierrot's name was always on the anniversary website credits at the bottom since the beginning. Not sure why anyone ever expected it to be another studio.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Quick transition between bows. And we are going to the most anticipated clash since the beginning of history.
Nine Dragons'Ball Parade: Generic in history and Very generic in art. In short: Horrible second chapter.
Sakamoto Days: Delivered the best so far. Great action scenes and incredible art at the end.
Magu-chan: God of Destruction: Simple and well executed chapter. And the author seems ready at any time to close the story.
The Elusive Samurai: Rhythm problem continued. A lot in a single chapter. If Matsui doesn't reorganize, he will move to his first flop.
Phantom Seer: When the story embraces the horror it goes well, in the fight scenes it goes badly. But the use of the secondary ones is being very well done.
I say c: A worthy fourth chapter. The protagonist carries the story. And the new inserted character is really cool. Of the newbies it is the series that should have less patience from the editors, so it has to shine in the first chapters.
My Heroic Academy: Confirming that Horikoshi abandoned a character developed at the beginning of the story. Let's go to Endeavor's redemption.
Witch Watch: Best newbie so far. Jokes work. Walking to be the best romcoom in WSJ publication
Build King: Droped.
Ayakashi Triangle: Fan Service Chapter

Because the narrative of Studio Pierrot being bad or some shit like that due to past popular adaptations. But I digress.

On a completely unrelated note, it’ll be really interesting to go back to our predictions for the year.

Pierrot's adaptation of Bleach was great. Always has been. Fillers aside of course but that's the negative of a long running adaptation.
Not sure why people wanted something new.

I wouldn't mind a new studio for a fresher take on Bleach but Pierrot is fine as well.

Predictions for 2021

1. JJK becomes a million seller (sells 800k monthly per volume)
2. CSM anime gets announced when the manga ends.
3. Mashle experiences faster growths and reaches 120-150k in sales per vol.
4. UxU also grows to similar heights as Mashle and they become big rivals (which will be fantastic)
5. Sakamoto Days V1 becomes one of the biggest debuts in WSJ in a long time
6. Build King is still around and does admirably, though not on the same level as Toriko
7. Matsui comes back with a big debut with big numbers
8. Burn-u Za Witch-u comes back for S2 and does similarly in terms of Vol sales.
9. Cop and Dolphin, Moriking, Agravity, Roboco, Yozakura all end in 2021.
10. MHA, Dr. Stone manage to remain stable in Vol sales.
11. Phantom Seer holds on somehow.
So based on my predictions.

1. JJK exceeded my prediction
2. Spot on with CSM anime announcement
3. Still have time for this but it's definitely growing massively VoV. But lets see.
4. Uhhh, UxU isn't showing that growth but most of the year is still pending
5. I'm sticking with this. I think SD will be one of the biggest debuts in a while for WSJ. April will tell us.
6. Yikes. Vol1 sales is pending but not looking good for this one.
7. Uhhh, I was right about Matsui but I'm on the fence on the numbers side after seeing the series.
8. Most likely but nothing yet announced
9. 2 ended, Cop will probably end soon. Robocco and Yoza might survive. I do think Roboco's fate rests on other newbies.
10. Accurate.
11. Yes, despite Nak ignoring it. PS is definitely holding on and showing good growth VoV.

how were right with so many of them? Please, tell me you anticipate Nine Dragons' Ball Parade being the next ace of Diamond!

I dont think your roboco and yozakura will pan out since Roboco seems like its being partially used as free advertisement for everything, and Yozakura is hanging on somewhat...still think it would be pulled the second some hit manifests

because some Twitter person said Aniplex was buying Bleach rights and for some reason that stuck, excluding when they're only involved with music Aniplex and Pierrot don't really work together so then people said it must be a new studio and it spiraled from there with people just hearing the "must be a new studio" bit and not the dumb Aniplex rumor

Unlikely it'll be as easy as a 1:1 swap, even staff-wise. I believe in Kubo Outside he revealed that censorship will be less of an issue with the new time slot which does imply it'll be a late night anime (for the best). And with what little news we have got it's still in very early production stages so I wouldn't expect it in the next few seasons, probably not even this year. But I also reckon that Black Clover does need a couple years for the material to build up before it returns so it would mostly align.

As for people complaining about Studio Pierrot, excusing fillers (which are bad almost all the time for any series), Bleach had probably the best anime adaptation of the big three. People like to believe it'll be gold or trash solely because on the studio alone but there's so much more to it. I have faith. I just hope that we get another cour with the Can't Fear Your Own World + WE DO knot ALWAYS LOVE YOU novels adapted at the end to round off the adaptation in a more fitting way.

lmao. It's just good guesses tbh. It's not that hard to predict some of these things if you just pay attention, really.

Like, reading JJK, understanding it's quality as a series (personal opinion) and seeing how it was showing constant growth VoV did imply it can hit it really big and I was right.
CSM anime had to happen. The manga was getting bigger than JJK was pre-anime. So if it didn't happen during the run, the best way to announce it would be at the end of the manga's serialization. Lots of big announcements are kept for the end.

I do think that Roboco will get canceled if newbies do well. Yoza is selling enough to be fine for now.
I didn't mention Magu but Magu is next on the chopping blocks after Cop. Zero growth is a bad thing.

I'd love another Ace of Diamond. I liked the first chapter of Dragon's Ball Parade. Haven't read the 2nd yet but I don't think it's on Ace of diamond levels, personally. Just a different vibe for me.
I just hope that we get another cour with the Can't Fear Your Own World + WE DO knot ALWAYS LOVE YOU novels adapted at the end to round off the adaptation in a more fitting way.
Agreed. An adaptation of the LN's giving more info on Soul King and the lore as well some other characters would greatly improve the final arc in some ways.

Just saw the WSJ's circulation is below 1.5 million as of December 2020, a loss of a little over 100k for the year total.

If it keeps dropping at a similar rate it'll go below 1 million at some point in 2024, maybe early 2025. Considering One Piece's current pacing, it seems quite likely that the magazine will drop below a million before it ends.

WSJ is the last manga magazine with circulation above 1 million so it'll feel odd when that happens, like the end of an era.

Ball Parade: Yep, that’s what happens when you put a borderline autistic kid and a careless extrovert together. Kudos for keeping up the characterisation from the last chapter and not just ignoring it for the sake of the plot. And then everything gets solved by Crazy Girl Ex Machina. Okay? I mean, it works so I don’t actually mind that much, but that really came out of nowhere.

Elusive Samourai: Seriously? How long have you been living there without knowing their names? And no, making it an ‘as you know’-moment doesn’t make it better. Also, why are your main servants 8-year-olds? Are you seriously telling me a living god can’t find anything better? I get that this is normal in fantasy shonen, but if you want to tell a real life story, you can’t get away with kiddie stuff like that. Also, can we have a plot?

I tell c: Oh, I actually liked this one. It’s not all about her craziness and watching them in a different setting really helps with developing the characters dynamics. The case is kind of interesting too.

Witch Watch: WOW, she’s annoying. I feel so sorry for that boy. I should probably drop this, it’s bad for my mood.

Mashle: Lol. That was both stupid and fun. I’m glad we’re getting some more light-hearted adventure again.

UU: Why the recap? I mean, I like the way it was presented (a lot), but we knew all of this already.

Build King: Still no action, only more annoying banter. The next chapter better give us something good.

MHA: That was actually quite well done… but if it was supposed to make me feel for Dabi, it didn’t. Especially his attitude towards his mother ruined any sympathy I might have had for him.

Dr Stone: Good old François. Though I have no idea when they had time to send a message.

C&D: Still very good. That little twist took me by surprise. (But it does feel a bit like it could be ending.)

AT: Too bad I can’t say the same about this one. After that great flashback, we went back to silly gimmicks. Lame.

PS: Nice atmosphere. Glad they’re not dragging it out, too.

Sakamoto: Why does he grow taller too?? Either way, that was good, but I do hope the fight ends next chapter. I prefer the shorter self-contained stories in this series.

BC and Yozakura are both doing big fights that would be more fun to read in one go. The flashback in the latter was kinda cute.

SxF: I’m not against exploring side characters… but is it me, or has it been several months since we saw Anya?

Does anyone know the numbers for Mashle? Also amazing that Mashle nearly beat We never learn, with 16 volumes less and an anime.

The gap between #50 and #100 is far too big to get a reasonable estimate based on chart position alone so it's hard to say. But if there's WNL's past volume's monthly sales available that could probably give a good picture of how it's doing (taking into account WNL probably dropping a bit).

Witch Watch: As a Shinohara fan, I think he's still trying to find his footing on the rom-com genre. Like someone said, it's been like 90% comedy and very little romance, and I feel the execution becomes a little stilted for that.
The thing with romance is, if both the leads already want it to happen anyway, there's little stake in it. The girl is very into the Moi and Moi obviously cares for her, even if he's a bit awkward and straightlaced. And not like them dating would prohibit him from protecting her from this supposed 'calamity' anyway (it might make it easier for him to defend her).
Honestly, I think the set up, particularly the characters, don't really work for this genre so far. He might as well make it a full comedy manga.

Elusive Samurai: Still not really feeling it. The pacing/plotting is really weird, especially with the side character introductions. And the anachronic jokes are more misses than hits - just simple references are not really good jokes.

i tell c: Actually okay chapter. The manga is better when it doesn't pretend to be a detective/mystery series. Just make a it a comedy/thriller and it can work.

Kowloon Ball Parade: I love that it's taking the time to set up the two leads and their relationship and that the MC actually logically refuses at first. This new girl is a bit convenient but eh, if it helps to move the plot along I can bear it.

Yozakura: I'm quite hyped for the upcoming chapters and I really like the ice villain guy. Can't wait to see the Yozakuras' power ups. I hope the fights won't be as one-sided as Futaba's.

SAKAMOTO DAYS: Damn cool, bad-ass, and hardboiled. It's a really great chapter that plays to the manga's strengths.

Dr. Stone: I'm so happy to see Francois getting in on the action.

HSF: Not a bad chapter, considering. The ending gag is a bit weak though.

Roboko: One of the weaker chapters, not very funny nor endearing. Well, not really terrible either though.

Magu: Okay chapter, the crab guy still feels like he doesn't add a new dynamic.

HBC&D: Another cool and quite focused chapter. I'm quite invested now.

BUILD KING: Still a drag. I hope this upcoming test isn't as rushed as the last one.

Mashle: Interesting set-up chapter. I'm still having trouble telling the secondary characters apart though...

Black Clover: Alright chapter. Looking forward to the next one.

UXU: I don't really like them retelling Anno Un's story three times in a row but...oh well. It was a good arc, but glad that's over with and I'm looking forward to the next part.

Ayakashi Triangle: I hope they have the guts to actually follow through with Ninomiya and Matsuri. But eh, the main pairing will always win in the end. But it'll be interesting to see anyway.

Phantom Seer: Not bad. I hope the upcoming fight won't disappoint.

Jujutsu Kaisen: I'm quite surprised this villain guy is facing Yuji so soon. Quite nice.

I reread the chapter 1 of Ball Parade and the box girl is really there on page 11. Interesting touch.
