Another theory i have about why Jump doesn't seem to want to push PS is because of conflicting data and uncertainty about the series. Could be that the sale data and the readers survey data tell difference pictures and Jump editors have to choose which data to follow. In this case, the readers survey data is more reliable than the sale data. Why? Because PS sale right now might be inflated by the hype around JJK and KnY and so it uncertain that if the series attract readers base on it own merit or thanks to been in the same genre and from the same magazine as the 2 most successful series at the moment.

And what is the problem with one series influencing another?

If kimetsu and jjk fans start reading phantom seer and buy the volumes this is a good thing.

The problem is that the hype can't last forever. If a series rely entirely on hype of other series to sale rather then it own merit then it will go down as soon as the hype die down.

But if that were the case, the sales of the 2nd volume would not be greater than those of the 1st volume.
In addition, the 1st volume is still accumulating money.

PS is not in a downward trend, but upward.

Like i said, we are currently is still in the KnY/JJK hype , so the sale might be inflated by the hype of those series ( people who pick up PS because they want something similar to KnY/JJK). Again, Jump might have conflicted data, survey in the magazine showed little interest in the series while the it sale well. Plus PS, due to it genre, Jump doesn't know if the growth of the series is artificial or not and can it sustain that growth. is competing with the other major battle Shounen titles while the rest of the lower tier don't have too. (Magu is more a SoL, Roboco is a gag).

And as I said before, PS being like JJK and Kimetsu is not bad, on the contrary.

And if it were only Hype, Bokura no ketsumei would not have been canceled, after all he also had similarities with kimetsu.

Jump is promoting Roboko and magu, but all this promotion is not having the expected effect. Since roboko had a smaller increase in sales and magu chan did not have that.

PS share the same genre with KnY and JJK isn't bad, however it make it hard to collect accurate data about PS popularity right now and if it worth it to pushing it. If this just a momentary thing then it not worth pursuing.

Also Bokura no ketsumei? Like i said it been similar have nothing to do with Jump wanting to keep it or not, it just affecting the sale data due to the surrounding circumstances. Also if a series failed to take off even with the help of hype then it deserve to get cancel.

Lastly, Magu and Roboco both fall into more niche genres (SoL and gag) on WSJ that haven't been filled yet while PS is competing with other battle shounen. WSJ doesn't and will not run out of series like PS but Jump also want diversity in their line-up.

The genres of Magu chan and roboko have already been filled, after all WJS has more mangas similar to magu chan and roboko than it should.
what WSJ did most last year was to invest in manga like roboko and magu chan.

About PS, everything that has been said to belittle the work so far is not at all. Even if the vacancy is already filled at least PS is managing to do a better job than roboko and magu chan, seeing that sales are growing.

I am not belittle PS, i just point out why Jump doesn't have the confident in investing in PS right now due to the conflicting data. Also what exactly is sharing Magu and Roboco niche? There certainly aren't any SoL series on Jump and among the gag series Roboco still doing best.

It has no conflicting data, WSJ is simply doing with PS the same as it did with Yozakura.

Witch Watch, mashle, HSF, Yozakura himself are similar series to Roboko and Magu chan.

Witch Watch is new therefor it doesn't count since it haven't established an fanbase yet.
Mashle isn't a SoL or gag at the moment, it is more now like a battle shounen, same as Yozakura
HSF is doing worst and is more likely to get axed.
The conflicting data here is between the readers surveys and the sale. people who buying PS volumes doesn't necessary buy the magazine. Like i said, if the survey showed little interest in PS while the sale show it growing, which data should WSJ follow to decide the series future? And if PS growth only a momentary thing due to the current hype surrounding KnY and JJK?

Mashle and Yozakura started out as comedies even though they later moved on to BS.

And nobody can know about the readers' research, after all it is the editorial team itself that elaborates. So there is no way to say whether TOC is totally safe.

I've seen a lot of manga in bad positions that sold better than manga in good positions.

This whole concept of being influenced by other series or a trend being a bad thing is such a poor take. There is nothing "artificial" about PS's growth. The term artificial applies if WSJ pays readers to go pick up PS volumes because at that point, those readers picking it up are not doing so because they want to but because they are paid to. It's like paid followers on instagram or Youtube. That's artificial.

Did jumping on the Battle Royale trend hurt Apex Legends or Warzone? Oh no, the fans of those games must be artificial. I'm sure Respawn and Activision aren't promoting those games because those fans are only playing those games because they are similar to Fortnite. /s

Jumping on a trend and getting new readers who willingly took up Vol 1 copies and more people who willingly took up Vol 2 copies is not artificial. Like to even call Demons/curses topic a trend is laughable because it's been one of the most overdone genres in manga/anime history. At most, you can say is that Kimetsu reinvigorated that genre and that's literally it.

The mental gymnastics some of ya'll are going through to defend WSJ's treatment of PS compared to worse performing series like Magu or Roboco is praise worthy but also laughable.
I said this before. Bias exists in WSJ. You just need to look at the One Piece bias over Kimetsu for that. It's not that hard.

What can this be? What will this be? Only time will tell us (8)

Isn't this sign about the TV appearance UU made a few days/weeks ago ? By the way, this appearance seems to have had close to no effect on UU's backlogs...

As far as we know, it has had none. No volume has appeared on Shoseki, even though I expect them to at least hold for a while when Volume 5 goes on sale. It would be nice if it managed to rank continuously in the same way MASHLE does so we could have some more data regarding its performance and estimated sales, but it is indeed kind of disappointing not to have almost data from the series.

Some other stuff: According to leaks and such, it seems MASHLE will have no Popularity Poll, or at least no leak source has commented on it. Ryokutya has only mentioned the Illustrations Giveaway and Volume Stickers that will be gifted to people who buy physical volumes, but all that's stuff we already knew.

And aside from all of this here's Jump Short Frontier's Schedule

Issue 13: Ningen no Uta by Furuta Seiran (Gunjou no Batoro)
Issue 14: Maid no Rin-san by Sakano Asahi (Guardian of the Witch, Strawberry Punch)
Issue 15: buster Sweet by Hamada Shiki (KINGS GAME, The Last Killer, GAIA KEEPER)
Issue 16: Muchi to no Souguu by Yagi Tomohiro (Iron Knight, Red Sprite)
Issue 17: Shinadashi no Yuurei by Nakahata Rintarou (Ouki Shika)

Do we have any information on these authors as well as do what Jump Short Frontier is all about? Like the one-shots they have done. Minus Sakano Asahi and Yagi Tomohiro, since the two are veterans within the magazine. Just curious.
