Seems like the new girl on Red Hood is popular, at least on jp twitter, getting a lot of mentions and already some fanart, i'm curious to see the first ranking next issue, i didn't go much deep into searching people's opinion but based solely on Twitter rankings and etc, doesn't seem much different from here, well received in the beginning, people got bored in the middle when the author stretched things too much but its recovering a lot since the last 2 chapters, now if this will reflect in the ToC it's another story, also the Vomic is being well received, getting more views than Blue Box Vomic

It's a GFC winner though, and they've all died at 30 or less chapters since 2009.

But perhaps this will be the one to finally break the curse.

The Vomic getting more views isn’t a surprise. It’s being headlined by an A-list Seiyuu after all.

Looks like Jump's new strategy for vomics from now on will be casting A-class VA's for one of the roles, with Neru they got Marina Inoue (Momo Yaoyorozu, Armin, Youko) to play Akemi

It’s interesting to remember that Blue Box’s VAs were uncredited, yet I felt that they could hang with the A-list Seiyuus just fine (less so for Taiki, but Chii-chan’s voice was perfect imo). I think those VAs have really strong potential to break out if it ever gets an anime.

If you could pick one mangaka to do the next special one piece chapter who would you go with?

I really want toriyama to take a crack at it

I'd like to see Shimabukuro draw Fish-Man Island.

Or give Usazaki a chance to come back (maybe the Enies Lobby flashback?)

Sorachi Hideaki and Shimabukuro would be gold. I would also like to see Yusuke Murata, Ryuuhei Tamura and Toshiaki Iwashiro.

Seeing Vivi drawn by Naoshi made me want to see a fantasy manga by him, his art fits well the fantasy theme, i just wish he will not comeback with a romance, Blue Box is already filling the space and there's also Ayakashi, Yozakura and Witch Watch blending romance much better than Nisekoi did, should try something different.

French of the Dead was quite interesting, very different from what you see in Shonen Jump, a zombie apocalypse where two restaurant chefs are trying to turn people back to normal with food, the description sounds ridiculous but actually works without looking like a silly gag manga, art is good too, but i don't see how it would work as a serialization, it fits better as a one shot, but the author seems promising.

Mha surpassed Tokyo revengers this week(per single volume) so we could reach a first time 600k in 4 weeks while charting. The backlog looks nice as well, between 5k to 10k per volume

Tsunimanga Awards 2021:

6th - Nige Jozu (The Elusive Samurai)
8th - Blue Box
9th - SAKAMOTO DAYS
12th - Witch Watch
13th - Me and Roboco
15th - Magu-chan

SAKAMOTO DAYS has also won the U-NEXT Award, while Blue Box has won the Special Global Award.

In theory both Nige Jozu and Blue Box can participate next year again. I see them as the big favorites to win next year tbh (this year the Print Category has been dominated by Young Jump, with Oshi no Ko 1st and Uma Musume 2nd).

Jump #38:

Great:
One Piece
- Hype-hype🔥 Splendid final double page 🔝
The Elusive Samurai - What a contrast chapter. Angry faces and sober faces. The desire to fight and die vs the desire to flee and live. Great writing by Matsui and the art was lit again.
Sakamoto Days - Not gonna lie, the 2nd page got me, until I read the note bellow. Otherwise it was a fun gambling chapter. Loved the backstory of that brain master guy.
Red Hood - Oh, that plot twist at the end was great! Thumbs up for the new tomboy character also.

Good:
Witch Watch
- That was a smooth and fun teamwork!
Jujutsu Kaisen - Yuji is such a bad actor 😂 Kirara seems to be more easy to convince than the cold Hikari.
Neru - Justice was served. Respect the martial arts.
Candy Flurry - Oh, that kinda explains the lollipop accident. Interesting chapter.

Fine:
Blue Box
- Damn, saw what's coming throughout the chapter... Can't say I like that triangle drama...

I don't believe in tsugi manga awards, last year Undead unluck arrived first, and still sell 50k... while mashle was 8th and sell like 150k per volume.
Agravity boy arrived 6th and they axed it. it was so unfair

just like award shows, rarely does an award get people to rush out and by something, Just a commendation for the author to pin on their wall, and people to forget like the week afterwards.

You wouldnt blind buy something and value an award over an interesting plot, cute character design, and familiar cushiony art.
