It is confirmed that Luffy defeated Lucci.
This is a nice parallel to Luffy's evolve compared to Lucci's. I mean Luffy reached top tier pirate level.

On the other side, I was not expecting Luffy to use G5 right at start. Maybe because he knows Lucci is strong.

Law won't be killed until he's performed the "immortality surgery". That's arguably the biggest Chekhov's Gun in the series, at least one of them.

Maybe luffy went all out out of honest to god leopard based ptsd? I suppose if an awakening is at play lucci could have easily been enough of a threat that luffy needed to go full yonko on his ass to one shot him. I can't imagine lucci being so strong that he can hold his ground even against base luffy but an awakening being enough to turn lucci into something which luffy can't one shot in his base form is about reasonable. I suppose this is the perfect setup for the seraphines. We saw what gear 5 luffy did to lucci, now we get to see what the full might of a fully realized yonko does to them. If the seraphins hold their own then the world government is basically manufacturing warriors that are comparable to yonko commanders. If not stronger...
