I'm the one who said that. But I also think that he generally wants Baam to do the job and fulfill the prophecy. Whether or not Baam will ultimately play ball with that is another question altogether.

Gustang will be wise to have a backup plan or two, in case Baam decides to go rogue on the whole thing at some point.

If it turns into a flashback festival, with Icarus and the other 10.000 reasons why Zahard must be removed from Gustang pov i don't think it's that unlikely that Enne Zahard might be soon brought up, afterall Tiara was introduced as the only PBD Princess candidate after Enne.
So we could get other 10 chapters of Yama being beaten up, yeah.
What do you reckon is more important/dangerous, Leviathan or Enne ? Could Traumerei even consider that as an exchange of chess pieces in this situation ?

The other thing about Baam, is that even IF he could gather enough power to play a part in a FH's fight like appearing at the end to break the contract, he won't do it unless a FH killed Khun/Yuri or something, he refuses to be used for war right now, i would say that as of now neither FH really crossed the line to have Baam eager to kill them.

That was never my point. All i was saying is that i fail to see that Gustang is someone that makes "bad deals" (for the other party involved). Maybe he does, but we lack evidence.

As for the sword - wasn't it both? The sword did some teleporting, as did the thorn (or dimension whatever travelling)

He actually was fast enough to dodge an NPC BH surprise attack coming from a blindspot and very often there's a strong correlation between physicaly ability (buffed by shinsu strengthening) and one's overall combat strength.

He didn't believe in the prophecy initially. That's why he tested Baam and Baam succeeded. Even if he still doesn't believe it, Baam is still a valuable pawn to use.

yeah but Khun didn't use his fire fish to boost the lighthouse which possibly could have blocked the attack, but I don't think SIU is ready for Khun to be that strong. we did get a Gustang cliffhanger in it's place though

not even khel hellam dodged an spear coming from A blindspot and he has premonition ability!

Now she probably can throw faster than most spear bearers but that was a shot from very long distance

ok just because someone is not a position doesn't mean they can't do things other positions can do. Khun even stated that even though he is good with a spear, he could never hope to beat his father, and that his team already had a spearbearer. plus he likes giving orders so that is why he chose lightbearer.

evk versus ari bright was while evk was fighting a whole squadron + the floor admin khun with horns.

when AA ported in he looked around first so we don't know if it was from a blindspot anyway. and he even asked for andro's help who said "I'm already on it nerd(paraphrasing)" so they both knew it was coming. hardly a blind spot

I've to disagree here, Evk is actually a fisherman/WC hybrid and considering her physical strength (alongside shinsu strengthening) , sensing and dynamic vision (proportional to her tier), despite her eventual lack of technique, her stats are way too high for a mere regular spearbearer to throw a spear better than her, that's actually nonsens. Not to mention that HRs can fit in all positions by defaults despite being specialized in ones more than others.

As for her losing in melee to Sharon, that should be put into perspective. She was surrounded from all sides by elite Rankers attacking her simultaneously and above all she was only using a glimpse of her power, remember that Sharon not only destroyed the handle (after being distracted), she also dissipated the Ganesha with the long ranged swords at this point, Evk as a whole was quite affordable as a foe. Once she activated partial release though, Sharon, El' and everyone else was one sidely overwhelmed. As such, a half-assed Evk who barely use her powers losing to Sharon while supported by a whole division and El' doesn't mean the latter would stand a chance if Evk got even a little bit more serious about it.

Also, let's not forget that according to Lefav, Evk's only chance to end El' quickly was to attack him in melee combat. Said in other words, generally speaking close combat attacks > long ranged ones in firepower and Evk proved Lefav's words when she attacked El' with a fire sword (whose firepower > Quad Orb) at close combat and killed him in one shot.
