Heard enough, bottom 3 next week
Saito: So you're telling me that new character Natsuki broke the internet and made all volumes skyrocket on sites like Amazon for days? I heard enough, bottom 3 when her chapters gets ranked!

EiC bias is definitely a thing considering Kagurabachi very suddenly jumping to the top and mostly staying high the very issue Saito took over, but honestly for Nue I could see its low placements being mostly natural.

From what we've seen the JP fanbase for it appears to be very online, so perhaps regular readers (who actually vote in the surveys) aren't as big on it despite forums and such all loving it.

Did you forgot just couple of months ago the manga scored a 1st place after two consecutive weeks in the top 3 and not only that it still scored a couple of top 5 for a few weeks? The fanbase is pretty much there voting every week, if the manga is this popular online is because people buy Shonen Jump every week to read it, and the digital version has the same survey and even a extra one, and is easier to send, so why would people not vote for Nue if they like it so much? Specially after that whole "It is ending?" paranoia happened.

I could understand that a arc like the village one was not really popular because it was indeed the weakest arc of the series but there's absolutely no way readers aren't enjoying the last arcs, you can see how Natsuki is popular when she's already officially part of the main heroines after just a single short arc lol

My ranking of Issue #52 of 2025

1st - Kagurabachi #102
2nd - Someone Hertz #11
3rd - Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo #12
4th - Ichi the Witch #60
5th - Hero Girl and Demon Lord Call It Quits #3
6th - The Mage Next Door #4
7th - Shinobi Undercover #59
8th Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi #70
9th - Hima-Ten! #68
10th - Gonron Egg #5
11th - Otr of the Flame #28
12th - Harukaze Mound #23

Strong issue as always. I'm sad I didn't give points to TMND and Shinobi, they deserved it. Kiyoshi was great too. Below that, it was fine to boring. JJK Modulo is going to explode in the next chapters lol. Anyway, I really love this current line-up of Jump.

We’ve been through enough with Wakui and Nishi, we don’t want that attention again. But if there are artists who haven’t made it there, I don’t mind if they came to Jump like Miura.

I don't think there's any realistic big name available from the other 3 big magazines right now that could try on Jump, only Mashima but he will not leave WSM for sure.

Takuma Tokashiki, While in a seinen mag, Lili-Men feels very much like a Jump battle manga at times, and one of the best currently running.

Same, I think we have had enough of them...
I really wanna see Jump prioritize their rookies & axed vets more over successful vets.

I mean, Wakui IS an axed vet :derp (he now has at least 3 axed over 2 hits) bro just destroyed Tokyo again, probably due to astro axed/jk

By the way, I wonder what is the jump anime mentioned in this tweet about how the payment for animator got insanely cut from 100k to 10k

Still haven’t actually gone back and ranked this week’s chapters so who knows if I’ll get around to that this time… but I do still have some predictions to post. Hopefully my predictions are both more interesting and informed this time around.

WSJ 2026 Predictions

Current Series:

One Piece: Movie announcement (and release?) this year, announced at Jump Festa. I’ll say we’re still in Elbaf, but in the aftermath of the main conflict of the arc and preparing to move to what’s next.

Hunter x Hunter: Clearly seems to be coming back, I’ll say with just another 10 chapters, and then we won’t get more until late 2027. That will be pretty much all the HxH news we get, outside of merch stuff.

Me & Roboco: Season 2 announcement is really the only thing I can theorize. This isn’t going anywhere for a while.

Sakamoto Days: I’ll say it’ll end. Thinking around Fall. I’ll also say… no anime news, and the live action doesn’t make much motion outside of Japan.

The Elusive Samurai: Ends in… January, I think. I don’t know if there’s enough chapters to get to February, even with the double break week. I’m gonna bet that, given the current situation, Tokiyuki will die, but Takauji being a normal dude again will go on to do some good stuff in his absence. Also NatsuxGenba?

Witch Watch: I also feel like this ends this year, but less confidently. I could see this final arc lasting something like 30-40 chapters and then a couple chapters of romantic wrap-up either baked in-between or at the end, so maybe it ends right at the end of 2026. We’ll get S2 air date too.

Blue Box: The hardest to guess, but I’m leaning that it just lives into 2027. Kyo and Ayame will get together by end of year, all the badminton stuff will be over, and we’ll be getting ready for the final closing stuff with our main couple. Also S2 airdate.

Akane-banashi: To be honest, the anime probably won’t skyrocket it into the clouds; but it’ll at least get some attention and sales will get a small bump. There will continue to be 0 romance (duh). We will get another scene with Shiguma in the hospital even though he can’t speak, and Kaichi stocks will go up for the first time in eons.

RuriDragon: No news about anime. We’ll get 20 chapters this year, meaning 4 breaks outside of the usual biweekly nature. I think Ruri will demonstrate 2 new powers, one of which is a smaller thing (perhaps an explanation of the eyeball focus thing we saw when she was studying), and one more big one on the same scale as the fire/lightning/ice. If I had to guess, with what’s been done already, it must be… earth related?

Nue’s Exorcist: There will be an anime announcement (going 170 chapters without one is rare, even Akane didn’t wait that long, and it’s the next in line). We will be clearly through with Soranaki and perhaps done with Hyo #3 as well. There will be at least 1 new girl added to the gang, but this one won’t immediately start off pining for Gakuro like crazy, since we already had that happen twice in a row. We might have a good sense of when the series is ending by the end of next year, but it won’t end.

Kagurabachi: Also easy anime announcement, and non-zero chance it airs Fall 2026/Winter 2027? Hokazono will get at least one extra Sojo Bathhouse chapter, or if not that, then another gag mini-chapter with a deceased villain like Kyora. I’ll say by end of year we’ll have seen one more of the enchanted blades, and one more of the former wielders. Hiyuki will become relevant again and eventually ally with Chihiro, regardless of whether or not Chihiro remains in allegiance with the Kamunabi or not. (this could honestly not happen due to it taking awhile to reach for the whole year). Sojo’s research with Datenseki will continue to be relevant with some new weapon being created, either a new sword or something completely different.

Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi: While there’s still a tiny part of my brain that thinks it could get soft axed this year, that kind of feels boring to predict, so I’ll say it’s still running by the end of the year. I think after we handle stuff here in the demon realm we might get more insight on the opposite side with angels. (I know we all said that last year and it didn’t happen but I have no other guesses lol).

Hima-Ten!: I think that a notable development is going to happen with Honoka that sets a sets the tone for how the plot pivots Tenichi away from choosing her and towards choosing Himari. While it’s not exactly what I would prefer, I have a feeling that Sumire is going to start demonstrating feelings for Tenichi despite being on Himari’s side. While less immediately likely, I also will say that there will be an anime announcement.

Ichi the Witch: While I was wrong last year about evil witches playing a strong role, I’m gonna say that there’s at least gonna be one evil witch in the organization that sides with the World-Hater magik. While I want to say anime announced, given Bachi’s current situation I’ll say it isn’t, but announced in 2027. I think given the current pace of the story we won’t see any important characters die, save for maybe Chrono. Actually, with that in mind, hard call; someone completes Chrono’s trial as a mercy/powerup alternative to him just dying?

Shinobi Undercover: This is not getting an anime announcement this year. I think that Hibari and Umineko will begin to unlock their kekkai, which will become useful in the next serious fight. We’ll also have a moment where we get to see some things from Aoi’s perspective rather than just viewing her from Yodaka’s perspective (unsure about this because she is the kind of character that feels like she has 0 internal dialogue like Luffy).

The rest of the series that have not lived long enough to warrant thorough speculation: Otr is dying soon, Harukaze… will die. JJK Modulo, that one’s scripted, so yeah. Someone Hertz will make it at least a year. Among the three newbies, Gonron is dead in the water, and it’ll be a fierce battle to see whether Osoegawa or JK Yuusha will survive, since they can’t both make it. (they can, however, both die).

Black Clover: Will end this year. I said it last time and was wrong but like, it surely has to be wrapping up within 10 chapters at this point. Of course this could be a bust of a comment since I don’t read it. The anime season coming out will be a 2-cour only covering up through the whole Spade invasion arc, with the whole final arc being it’s own season.

Other WSJ predictions that I will be less good at:
-We get 11 new series this year, slightly below average
-Only 2 of the 2025 batch last longer than a year
-We get a returning axed author from 2020-2024
-A semi-successful, but not blowout success, author from pre-2020 returns
-Jump leaves people out of one of the combined issue covers again
-One of the 2024 gang will miss out on their 2nd anniversary cover like Nue and Kill Blue did
-Saito will get slander for some unorthodox decision (free space)
-There will not be anything larger than a batch of 3 this year. We have enough new series we don’t mind keeping around and old things on the way out such that there’s no need to do another big axe wave to cull the fodder all at once
-If Harukaze dies, there will be at least 3 new sports series that debut in a desperate attempt to fill the genre, and only one of them will survive through the year by default due to being the most okay of the bunch

Someone needs to send whoever's translating Kagurabachi the money to get a Viz subscription so they can actually read the pages next time
