Toriko references in Roboco feels very sudden, I guess the joke is that Bondo only catches things from WSJ and Toriko's the series most suited to that.

Rip Otr, there's no chance of it sticking around for an extra batch after this extremely sudden final boss intro. It's just a matter of seeing how many chapters until the next batch (I imagine this also means the newest batch probably won't be dropping below it).

What series you guys think (or wish) will be the next to receive a new anime?

What i want:

Toriko: Anime will complete 15 years in 2026, Toei is all happy doing remakes of their series so who knows, Toriko is definitely one of the Jump series who needs a remake the most, is such a amazing battle shounen, just imagine what current Toei could do with the series without having to censor it and with good animation.

To Love-ru Darkness: To Love-ru series will complete 20 years in 2026 and the Darkness manga hasn't been fully adapted, so i wish there's something next year, maybe the promised 3rd manga part too

Beelzebub: Anime will complete 15 years in 2026, i know is very likely never happening but man, a Beelzebub anime faithfuly adapting the manga and with good/decent animation would be so good...

Mx0: Series will complete 20 years in 2026, how about a anime adaptation like Psyren is getting?

What i think it will happen:

Dragon Ball: The original anime is completing 40 years in 2026, something is 100% getting announced, in fact there's already a tease of a announcement for the big DB event in January, it will either be S2 of Dragon Ball Super or a remake of the original Dragon Ball.

Yu-Gi-Oh!: The original series is going to complete 30 years in 2026, i really doubt they going to left this big of a milestone go without notice, in fact i think a remake/reboot of the Duel Monsters anime fully adapting the original manga has a really good chance to happens.

Saint Seiya: Series is completing 40 years in 2026, there's no way nothing happens, specially with how active the franchise still today, Toei is probably going to announce something, maybe finally the Next Dimension anime?

Black Cat: Anime completed 20 years this year, there's a active Twitter account suddenly created 2 years ago just for the anime celebration, so i still think there's something going on behind the scenes just not announced yet.

D.Gray-Man: Anime will complete 20 years just like Reborn, i find hard to believe they will not gonna do anything for the series, this one i think it should get a remake due to not having the most loyal anime adaptation out there, but thinking about, wouldn't make much sense to do a remake for a series that still going for God knows how long.

Mr. Fullswing: is going to complete 25 years, so who knows...

Hikaru no Go: Anime is completing 25 years in 2026, they have acknowledge the anniversary but so far nothing yet, feels weird how a big hit like this hasn't got anything for 20+ years.

I'm with you on MxO and saint seiya. Giving the author's original wishes for arcs could be good for both next dimension and another final arc could be amazing especially if he will be on board for story notes. I hope Eyeshield 21 will have a complete reboot also in 2027 for 25 years of the manga, also with Haikyuu and dr. Stone ending there should be a chance for both TMS and production I.G to take it.

• Tokyo Punk Kill R by Morihiro Hayashi, the one and only colour page. The author is most known for their work Star of Beethoven which released early 2024 in Weekly Shonen Jump.
• Benkei by Umeharu, I can not find any previous works by them, nor any social media accounts.
• Ippon Souka by Yoneboshi, they previously release Kanbomi, which won the 99th Jump New World manga award. They don't seem to have any socials.
• Brass Bone by Ayano Sasaki, they previously released Hakobiya Arima Kyoumo Hakobu, which won the 82nd Jump New World Manga Award.
• Yuki Ni Shuura by Sango Iwakami, they don't seem to have any previous works or socials.
• Uchi Meke Gyokushin by Mayu Aoi, there is no person with that name known to have any releases for jump, BUT there is someone who goes by Mayu, they may be the same person. This Mayu has previously released Hirata Shuuka to Maekawa Touya, which won the 86th Jump New World Manga Award. But there is no guarentee these are the same people.
• Monster Fujimura by Teppei Kiyota, they previously released Tanaka-san no Noroi, which won the 94th Jump New World Manga Award, this One-Shot was later included in Jump Giga Summer 2025.

Sorry if I mistranslating something, I didn't read every manga in WSJ

 

[Discomusic]

1. Ichi the Witch: The series pretends to be light but it has actually a lot of dark tones. Here in this chapter, we have Speedy fantazising about doing...well..that, and then Gokuraku obliterating him and doing...well...that. I forgot how brutal the guy can be.
2. Sakamoto Days: Finally, peak Sakamoto returned! Him fighting in this shape, against the assassin who kept on defeating him when he was slim and unready, using the environment as he was doing in the first chapters...all of this was really needed and is truly welcomed, hoping it won't change until the end.
3. Akane-banashi: The two are surprisingly getting along, finding a lot of analogies in their life. And yet, they can't disreagard the rivalry, that has been very well written until now. Bust most importantly...a Ramen cup museum? Is that a true thing in Japan?
4. Jujutsu Kaisen: Modulo: A number of returns from the original series appear here. Dabura is one fascinating fellow, uber strong but not particularly caring. This fight may be interesting but it won't last long.
5. Witch Watch: Same vibes as the first meeting between Legato and Vash on Trigun. That didn't stop the plan, that now involves all the proper witches we have met so far. It will be one hell of a battle royale.
6. Nue's Exorcist: The flashback begins and it is good. It explores the feelings of a bunch of lonely people that are destined to stay alone because of their nature, and they grow fond of each other unaware of the disasters that will come. If it continues like this, the next chapters may even reach my top 5.
7. The Elusive Samurai: Oh no, they fell for the trap! Takauji is still a formidable fellow, even if he softened up his war instincts didn't falter. Maybe this was the last chance to showoff for the Elusive Warriors.
8. Me and Roboco: I started like "Oh no, another chapter where the author only wants to show off his high knowledge about fishing" but thanks to those three, it became very funny very fast. I feel sorry for Roboco a bit, her plan was actually good.
9. Shinobi Undercover: It didn't have the impact as maybe the authors were expecting, but I didn't see it coming, and Kasasagi becomes much more interesting as a character because the arranged marriage part is actually not that important to her story. Worth giving this twist a try.
10. Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi: We're back to the one vs. one multiple fights setup like the Black Parade...I'm not complaining because for this series it works. I liked the "right needle left needle" part, with Shishi deciding on his own how does the power of the opponent work. He bows to no one!
11. Someone Hertz: Surprisingly, plot is moving forward this week. They were adorable as always, but the fact to take home is that Mimei didn't get into the competition (as it should be), which means there is no rush to end the series (as it also should be). Very curious for the first volume sales.
12. The Mage Next Door: It was clear as day that the whole thing was a scam, actually I didn't expect for him to reveal it right away. So the most important part of the chapter is clearly the magic that makes you arrive at your destination on time. Where do I buy some?
13. Hima-Ten!: The post-arc was better than the arc itself. The two talked to each other and were sincere, hoping for Kanna to mantain the same composure when she will get defeated for real. Also, this week was a festival of good onomatopeias, I'll go with "Kan-noyed".
14. Harukaze Mound: Once again, it is good that this is a sports manga and not a battle or even worse a delinquent manga, for the safety of everyone involved. This new guy comes directly from the pages of some wacky battle shonen of the '90s, as the pure-hearted axe-crazy middle boss.
15. Blue Box: They continue to advertise this high school last game between true friends as if it has the same gravitas of John Cena's retirement match. Now with flashback! The stern advisor will get mad when he'll find out that his friends made him ditch practice.
16. Otr of the Flame: Yes, the axe is coming, unless the King pulls off an heel move and then retreats. All the Cholerio staff was pretty good, I like that she (sorry: he, apologies for last week) insists on not believing in communication until the end, because there's no space for emotions in his heart. As always, this series has good ideas wasted in the rest of the mediocrity.
17. Kagurabachi: The true baddie appeared and is ready to teach everyone a lesson. That's pretty much the chapter, and I don't have much to say about it.
18. Hero Girl and Demon Lord call it quits: Great, now she's strong enough to dispose of the Demon Lord and end the family curse and the series. Why didn't her father and grandfather think of that when they found out how does she level up?
19. Gonron Egg: I am not an expert in narrative, but I don't think that having the losing side of a battle commenting on everything that the winning side is doing makes for a good immersion. Kinda ruined the chapter for me (that was pretty weak to begin with).

Personally I think the new Gonron chapter's actual events were pretty cool, but the extremely shaky art and the author's lack of sense for action prevented any of that from actually showing through.

I still don't see a Yu-Gi-Oh remake happening. The franchise is still going strong now and the card game is obviously the heart of it. I don't see them making a remake where the first 20ish episodes don't focus on the card game at all. At that point, I feel like they'd rather just make a new YGO series like they've been doing over the years

Issue 3 chapter reviews:

1. Nue's Exorcist: So soon into this flashback we are already seeing some of Nue's habits forming: her love for food? She used to roast boars on the mountain, one of the very few things she COULD do. Her lap pillows? The first human who managed to reach her slept on her lap after asking to be a friend. Her horns and her playfulness are both inhereted from Gekka, as Gekka herself inhereted the mountain's name.

Seina is a curious figure, and many of us Nue fans are predicting him to be the origin of the Fujino... And it isn't a far fetched guess, seeing as how even 1300 prior to the story, the Bureau DID exist, and Gekka's position as Vice Captain means that a Captain is on top of the first ES (who could it be? We'll see!). Interesting seeing the various territories of the Hyo... As well as the first look at Old Man's face! In chibi form but still!

By all means, going off of how Soranaki and Nue have been portrayed, you'd THINK that she and Gekka would be the ones shown to connect from the get go, but no, it is with Soranaki that we see Gekka bonding with, both coping with their inner loneliness and love for festivals relating to it. It's making me think about Soranaki in the current era: is he, deep down, still lonely? Is his insanity just a way to cope? Maybe his disregard of modern customs is to ease his sadness? Even if all that IS true it wouldn't justify actions like his sexual harassments, but Kota, as seen with Suzaku, doesn't make the world simply forgive like that. Besides, we have much more to this flashback to go, and we know it doesn't end well... Although, Soranaki STILL wears those horns. A sign of nostalgia, lingering affection? In spite of that last line, we know something AWFUL happens and Soranaki is the cause of it, the houses burning has to be subtle "foreshadowing"...

Somewhat unrelated, but a special part about this chapter is that it made me realize one thing: Nue's Exorcist isn't a story simply about love and connections. It's a story about loneliness. Gakuro was bullied and left alone after Takuro's death and Shitotsu's departure, Shitotsu herself had no family to rely on during her period as an exorcist. Shiroha had her parents, her one comfort in that hellhole of a family, ripped away from her and her only company was the monster she was forced to bond with. She can't even sleep without holding hands. Kazusa was so scarred from Haruhi's death that she shut herself away, not making friends, boys especially, for what was probably years. Even her ribbon was a memento of him, she missed him for so long. Kabane had no one on his side until the Fujinos picked him up and he forced everyone to respect his sheer might. He was so detached from people that he didn't even know how to interact with his crush without hurting her. Rido was shunned and hated until Mizuki entered his life and he started changing for the better, having more to his life than just a position to aspire to. Natsuki was for her whole life a prisoner of the Shuen and only knew how to interact with people from outside it through manga, a complete fantasy that changed her perception of reality. Ishu, although we know little of her backstory, was disheveld and depressed until Gakuro shined light back into her heart. Suzaku's life was pure suffering until her family came along and she could finally enjoy existence for the first time, she coyld bear the pain. Everyone in this series needs someone to bond with to grow, or someone that accepts them to even live at all.

Dare I say one of the best chapters in the series, just below the likes of 65, 76, as well as the Rido and Suzaku fights. Incredible stuff!!!!

2. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo: Starting off, Iwasaki absolutely SNAPPED with the art and imagery. Mino's blacked out face, the ritual spread, Mahoraga, Dabura's CT and ESPECIALLY the wheelchair breaking, symbolizing Yuka's more resolute state of mind going into the battle, unbound by her illness. Her realization that being the little sister was the best she could have possibly hoped for and wanting Tsurugi to be her brother again... man. And as a cherry on top, Gege shows that he KNOWS how to write incredibly hype moments- I don't think anything could have been hyper than Mahoraga showing up besides Yuji himself.

3. Someone Hertz: The literal week after I decided to answer prompts, Yamano writes a chapter with NO prompt- The blasphemy! Anyways I really like the bittersweet yet realistic way Mimei's entrance (or lack thereof) into the Listener Koshien was approached: he is frustrated, sad, but at the end of the day he just started improving only recently, and most importantly, Mizuo's his friend, so he WILL cheer her on. And that fortune is a really smart way to spoil us on the fact that Mimei WILL make it eventually. Now, for the tournament arc!

4. Kagurabachi: Soga's and Magatsumi's first full power showcase did not miss. The Magatsumi drawn page was sick as hell, and we immediately are shown how far above Soga is over literally anything else in the series, slicing buildings like nothing, floating in the air like a deity, and completely dominating two experienced Enchanted Blade Wielders. And now we are about to get a uncle and nephew bonding(?) moment! Chapter didn't make it to the top 3 solely due to some of the paneling being kinda odd in my opinion, like I get the intent but it doesn't really work for me.

5. Shinobi Undercover: What's this? A shinobi chapter in my top 5?? Yep, I actually liked this! Kasasagi's backstory info gives us an insight on the brutal world of ninjas, a big contrast against the "funny and hype" vibes the series has always wielded (I mean, we KNOW the reality of ninjas, but it's not often we SEE it proper).

6. JK Yuusha: Once again, a funny chapter all the way through. I don't have much to say but as long as this series keeps being cute AND funny that's a-ok!

7. Ichi The Witch: I think Gokuraku is cool and I like keeping the brutalizer title alive, but man progression recently has been so slow I don't know what else to say honestly.

8. Gonron Egg: I am SHOCKED this isn't last, but Mage just sucked THAT badly for me. Whatever, let's talk Egg: This is the first fully on screen, longer than one attack fight in the series... And it is TERRIBLE, borderline unreadable. The character art is messier than ever, the monster designs that I actually did praise once have gone to hell, and the fluidity and motion is nonexistent. He cuts vertically but the trees are sliced horizontally?? That Bakto has to narrate everything just becsuse no one would get what is going on otherwise, that page 10-11 sequence is especially terrific, and I don't mean that positively. Saved from being last due to its (shitty) Aura and Hype™.

9. The Mage Next Door: The ambush joke was ok and that's all the praise I am willing to give this chapter. Why did Shindo just reveal his motives the MOMENT Osoegawa arrives?? It's not parodying here, it's a scene being played completely straight, abd it's a twist I could see coming MILES away. And, holy shit, why is NOBODY naming their magic already?! Osoegawa is lazy and has many so it would be ok if he was the only one doing this, but dude, "Magic that enhances fists-" IS EVERY MAGE LAZY BY DEFAULT?? And the "Oh you are so stupid you are useless" speech done in the, ironically enough, laziest manner possible... And as the cherry on top, I will say this: the art sucks. I was vibing with it a bit in the first few chapters for what it was but now it's just still bust and up shots, sketchy motion (sketchy stillness too) and inconsistent faces.

D.Gray-Man: Anime will complete 20 years just like Reborn, i find hard to believe they will not gonna do anything for the series, this one i think it should get a remake due to not having the most loyal anime adaptation out there, but thinking about, wouldn't make much sense to do a remake for a series that still going for God knows how long.

the original release had a ton of filler, a remake that is more true to the Manga while adding the most recent arc on the end would be amazing.

Toriko: Anime will complete 15 years in 2026, Toei is all happy doing remakes of their series so who knows, Toriko is definitely one of the Jump series who needs a remake the most, is such a amazing battle shounen, just imagine what current Toei could do with the series without having to censor it and with good animation.

This has to be one of the worst anime adaptations I have ever seen, though I didn't stick with it for long. I would love a higher quality version of this tremendous series. This amazing series deserves an anime that does the series justice.

Yu-Gi-Oh!: The original series is going to complete 30 years in 2026, i really doubt they going to left this big of a milestone go without notice, in fact i think a remake/reboot of the Duel Monsters anime fully adapting the original manga has a really good chance to happens.

I would hopeful a movie or something related to the original, GX or 5D's

D. Gray-Man - As stated above. I would love a reboot/remake of the earlier part that covers everything up to where the mange is now. I doubt we get it but I do hope they give D. Gray-Man some love for its 20-year anime anniversary.
Toriko - For reasons stated above.
Fire Punch - One of Fujimoto's lesser known works. This story is very dark and intriguing. I have not finished the series but would love to see this brought to life.
Goodbye, Eri - Another of Fujimoto's one-shot manga. They did an amazing job making "Look Back" into a movie, I am sure they could do the same with this.
Robot x Laserbeam - It lasted longer than I would have though when I originally saw this manga grace the pages of jump. It got a much better reception than I anticipated, too. It would probably do pretty well as an anime.
Wild Strawberry - The story is pretty good, the art is amazing, and recently just ended.
Wanted! - They recently did Monster, they could do the rest of Oda's early work as well.
Tokyo Ghoul - This series deserves a much better more faithful adaptation of the source material.

Kagurabachi being first makes sense since restarted from chapter 1 earlier this year to see what all the hype was about, sadly it does not live up to the hype and is an even worse weekly read than it was to binge read it. I am surprised that One Piece is sitting in 3rd as I go back and re-read and look over previous chapters as we get new information and I chat in different forums about this series more than any other. Everything else makes sense given how many chapters of each series were released this year. I should find a WSJ classic I haven't read yet and add it to my reading for 2026.

They're not established safe series. Even Hertz could pull a Chojo (as unlikely as it sounds), so they won't promote them in a high profile collab work like this. This kind of promotion is why I say people should move on from pretending Kiyoshi is in any discussion of cancellation for a long time.
