Alright, time to make baseless predictions solely off of the mc design and title and little else:

Under Doctor: A bit of a unique concept, I can’t say I have immediate confidence in the art with the “only drawing one eye” thing on the mc but that’ll just have to wait until ch 1 to evaluate for real (maybe it’s just the way the mc’s eye and smirk looks a little bit like an Ekiden Bros character that’s giving me apprehension). He do got that fit on though.

Kaigeki no Kinato: Tbh I thought the mc was Deku for a sec, not the most inventive design I’ve seen but from what I gathered this author tends to be decent with the art, I’ll be curious to see if their storytelling has leveled up (despite being someone who didn’t read Shadow Eliminators).

Alien Headbutt: Just off title and mc design I’ve got no idea what exactly this will be, so imma say it’s the wild card for now until proven wrong. Art looks okay from that first impression.

If anyone has one-shots from the 2 new authors that could be cross-referenced that might be interesting material to look at.

Medical theme could be interesting. Hope Amemiya’s writing gets to the level of his drawing.

You do have a point. But personally I dislike SE a bit more
Yeah I mean I agree with you there, SE was definitely worse than flurry. But either way, they were both pretty bad and pretty immediate flops. So there’s no reason to not give other bombs a chance if they could end making a success.

The face of the guy from the alien series gives me major Toriko vibes for some reason

I will say I’m about as hot on these right now as I am the latest Gonron/Osoegawa/JK batch (maybe not that low), which is to say I don’t have immediate hope for any of them, but I’m willing to defer those thoughts until I get a taste of the actual series to judge if there’s something here.

Alien Headbutt is either a delinquent or a physical sports like Rugby or something, doesn't look like just a battle shounen, also the exoctic title feels like the name of a group/team.

My disappointment is more that the first batch of the year carries some expectations and for now I thought they were all kinda meh

Candy Flurry was a much more promising first attempt than Shadow Eliminators imo. Candy Flurry had flashes of good ideas, the premise just wasn't implemented well enough to work. It already had the flashy dynamic action that's become a strength of Shinobigoto, and some fun quirky character moments, they just needed a retry which a more reliable and concrete premise not built on a quick silly gimmick.

Shadow Eliminators by comparison was a completely empty series. Candy Flurry had some hidden strengths to latch onto and work with, SE had absolutely nothing good or notable going for it whatsoever.

Anyways I'm not sure what to think of these series, none of the three have particularly intriguing preview images. It's just three guys smiling in slightly different ways. Alien Headbutt is a fun title but again, the preview tells us absolutely nothing about it. Is it about a guy headbutting aliens? A footballer who has an extra powerful headbutt? I have no idea. I feel like, after the completely failed sports round, it probably won't be a new sports series, but who knows with Saito.

I like doing prediction on what will be the winner of the batch when we just have this first preview (yes, there's no point at this, it's just for fun)

This time, I'm gonna say Under Doctor. Very confident with this one. (Last time I got confident with a series because of the first preview & title was Someone Hertz, also got confident about Kill Blue/Nue, GGG, Shinobi Undercover, Kaedegami, PPP and Mage Next Door lol. So, ig I've got 50/50 % chance to be right.

From this little preview, Alien Headbutt feels like it could be a nice surprise, definitely the chara design I like the most from the 3

This title and chara design makes me think that it could be some kind of weird alien delinquent manga, so I hope it'll be unique

Sadly not as interested by the other two, I don't really dig Under Doctor's artstyle from this preview and Kaigeki no Kinato looks generic

To be fair the first batch of the year hasn’t had a really strong showing since Akane, unless you count Cipher Academy due to being in the same batch as #1 2023. At the very least compared to last year’s first batch of Embers and Beethoven, we should at least see marginally better results.

I feel like everyone is being so negative. We know next to nothing about these series that we're still predicting their genres. It's not like this thread has the best track record with looking at preview images and knowing what will succeed (i.e. Kaedegami).

What expectations? Usually the first round is either a mid success or a flop.

2022 - Akane (Decent enough success) + Earthchild (Total failure)
2023 - Tenmaku (Complely missed the mark) + Kill Blue (Survived long enough) + Do Retry (Really bad) + Nue's Exorcist (Doing fine enough to stick around)
2024 - Chojo (Lucky to even get an anime) + Dear Anemone (Forgotten already)
2025 - Embers (Flopped) + Star of Beethoven (Axed quickly)

2021 admittedly had a first good round but that's one exception really

Yeah, I was actually hoping a improvement from last year because the poor Embeethoven results

Which is why I’m going to be bold and predict that 2/3 of these series will be mega successes and bring back the golden age of jump.
But in all seriousness, I think a big problem is people are watching established series slowly fade, and then they’re not exactly being replaced by big hits. 2026 will probably end with every 200+ chapter series besides Roboco and Akane being over. And so unless an upcoming series is being made by a veteran, it’s forecast to be another flop.

Dip's First Impressions of the Authors:

Tanimoto Kyou - I legit can't find anything on the guy. I looked all over Google and I either missed the 1-2 one-shots he published previously or he's a new name/re-brand like Ikuo Hachiya. Either way, on the art it looks clean, idk why its giving me Haruto Ikezawa vibes tbh

Kento Amemiya - People bashed on Shadow Eliminators but I remember their GIGA one-shot getting some love. Their art is VERY good, legitimately if they can be a half competent writer I think they can stick around especially with these Hima-ten rumors. Don't know why but they have my vote.

Inui Akira - Honestly has my least favorite art of the batch. It looks really unpolished which can have a charm to it but until I see a full length chapter I just imagine their art isn't that developed and who knows how the writing will be. Also can't find much on them either

Tanimoto Kiyou, apparently he changed his penname and he used to be Tanimoto Tatsuya with a bunch of one shots through the years:
