Because Oda never did the same before. He never handled the fights as different parts and never announced a victor of each round just the final one. Arabasta desert: Winner Crocodile or Royal Palace: Winner Doflamino, etc were never used before. What was the point of announcing Kaido's victory...

Why did the narrator announce Kaido's victory? Now he needed to correct himself. Anything that narrator said up until now and will say in the future cannot be trusted anymore.
