Idolatry, Dead Account and several other series from WSM were transferred instead of being canceled, while series are transferred from Young Magazine to Yanmaga constantly, practically every month.

Manga gets transferred from WSM to Magazine Pocket, and from Young Magazine to Yanmaga Web, and it's no big deal. But because this is Jump, people are like, "Noooo, we have to DESTROY and BURN everything that didn't survive in Jump, or better yet, shoot the author".

Towards the end, Gintama's volume sales were around 200k a month, Toriko's were at 200k, and Soma's were 170k. But sure, let's pretend Gintama has a fanbase like Naruto's.

I hear way too much in this thread about sales being driven by Sorachi's name, but having a big name didn't help Build King or Tenmaku hit even 5k.

Why did you take this as some sort of dig at Kiyoshi? The only point is that Jump learned a lesson with Phantom Seer. Regardless of what anyone thinks about its quality, its sales only continued to grow even after it got axed. And yes, calling an axed series "doomed" is purely hindsight bias...

Phantom Seer was sacrificed so that Kiyoshi and Kagurabachi could live. I'm sure Shueisha considers axing it so early a mistake.

If Sorachi can't keep up with the schedule and as a result 2B is unlikely to run for long in Jump, what is the point of promoting the series on group covers? It's like Kagurabachi/Ichi. Even if Kagurabachi got better reader votes, if I were the editor-in-chief of Jump, I would place Ichi higher...

As soon as Sorachi submits a chapter on time, 2B will be in first place.

I checked on Amazon, and it says that volume 115 of OP will be available for download on August 4th.

One Piece is the only Jump series to delay its digital release by a month, done specifically to boost physical sales.

I've seen this exact same shit happen with anime DVD/Blu-ray sales. It means only one thing: physical is dead, and which title has higher or lower numbers means absolutely nothing now. But in the case of manga, we can at least look at the digital sales.

It makes more sense to assume that the surveys have always been bad and still are; there's no reason to artificially lower the TOC positions of new series.

Speaking of which, recently I decided to see what the math has to say about series cancellations, so I looked at the Jump TOC over the past four years. Conclusion: the top 13 series are safe. Dropping to 14th place or lower for a long enough period (I used 12-issue segments for measurement)...
