Well but authors rarely make a good story AND good romance, most would rather not even try. So far I didn't see any two sided romantic development from characters that are relevant in current timeline. You wanna start that stuff as soon as possible and the story is like half complete right?

TOG doesn't smell to me like the kind of story where romance is relevant, we will just constantly get teased from time to time.

Data zahard couldn't grow stronger while fighting, while bam could get stronger while fighting not only from his bs powerups, but generally, as an original.

But every copy is weaker than original so we assume data zahard is weaker than original. At least, every copy is unable to improve their fighting abilities while inside the fake world, otherwise zahard and eduan could become almost as strong as they are currently outside.
