That's not really a good argument, there was more at play than just that, Erza was in a terrible matchup her AOE isn't as large as Ajeel or Laxus'. Not only that, but both Erza and Ajeel were nerfed in that fight so it's a bit of a stretch to only use that fight.

Next to go should be Laxus. Personally I find him and Erza to be equal in terms of power - and that's overestimating him a bit. But Laxus fans are pretty abundant so I'm guessing he might even go after Gildarts.
