Haven't really checked, did anyone say he would punch her to get her memory back? But that was a great way for her to get her memory back. Not her overcoming it, but Kenichi physically bringing her back. I freakin' love the story development.

The reason he said it is because Miu was raised under the "Life-Giving Fist". By all intents and purposes, Saiga is a Killing-Fist martial artist. The blood she has is what has been keeping her from killing for this long.

If Sakaki does die, it doesn't mean Elder is heartless or cruel. He is not Sakaki's guardian. He is a fellow master watching another master fight against his rival. You don't get to be a master by just training by yourself, you have to actually fight peope who are just as good or stronger than...
