I can only answer to the first question I think that the only reason is because Lucy is going to give all her spiritual strength to use fairy sphere..... or at least that's the only reasonable explanation that I can think of

Okay so you've got to be kidding me right??? So zeref was defeated like this without even natsu becomes end or full powered. Acnologia the one who everybody was so afaraid of was defeated without even a fight. We didn't get to see Gray fight someone with his new powers ( I mean I expected more)...
