In part one we follow Amon quite a bit to the point where he was considered the deuteragonist of the series, almost like how we follow Urie in RE. I highly doubt his only role was to further develop the Q's, Shirazu(RIP sweet prince) already accomplished that.

I am probably in the minority here, but I thought the flashback of Furuta and Rize was cute. I find Furuta to be the most interesting character in the series because you never really know what he is thinking. That being said, I think it would be poetic justice if Rize did end up eating him.
