For me, E.N.D. not turning out to be anything meaningful will always FT's biggest failure. I was so hyped for Natsu being E.N.D. especially since I believed in the theory that he was E.N.D. before it was actually revealed. What a massive letdown.
Just make the ships canon in the final chapter. This final arc has been so bad that the ships are all I care about now. Give us Nashi or whatever else Hiro would name a NaLu kid.
In Hiro's defense, if he actually did allow any of them to go toe to toe with Acnologia, everyone would be screaming that's its bullshit or an asspull. I guess you could argue that it is Hiro's fault for making Acnologia that much more powerful in the first place.
I don't see a problem with this. I mean Bleach let you know it was on its final arc in the title of the first chapter of the final arc and that arc was 207 chapters long.
Which leads me to ask then why didn't their first kiss 100 or so years prior break the curse? What makes this encounter the one magic and not the one that ended up putting Mavis in a coma?
On the other hand, you have stuff that was foreshadowed but never went anywhere. Biggest example is Natsu being END but never got any sort of Etherious form to prove he is Zeref's strongest demon.
The first 15 or so chapters of this arc were actually pretty good but then when the actual war started it turned to shit. Mashima's first mistake was deciding to write a war arc when he's not willing to make sacrifices. It's hard to even call this a war because it was more like a one sided...
This reminds me of another problem I had with the final arc. The 3 gods of Ishgar did nothing except be fodder for God Serena. We didn't truly get to see their attacks or anything.
Makarov's revival is bullshit but I'm surprised so many people care at this point. After what happened last chapter, one more piece of bullshit isn't going to matter and is the least of this manga's worries.
