Knowing their abilities is important but in the end its ineffective if they keep running away from him because of the prediction or to know what he's gonna do in order to trap him with numbers. He wants to fight them on his terms this time and Neon's ability is a serious hindrance to that.

I also think that hisoka wasn't interested in Shalnark. look at Hisoka's toy box, neither Shalnark nor kortobi are there. not even machi s there. the only troupe members there are Fei, Phinx, Chrollo, franklin, kalluto (because of potential), and nobonaga. (the box is different in the anime)...
