That's really likely, and that might be the first fight shown because that's the one that showed in this chapter, or maybe showed parts of each of the fights.

This is starting to remind me of a rare version of the Tartaros arc in how those power-ups happened. Lucy got hers while fighting an opponent Natsu had previously defeated, and Wendy got hers when she was near an "object" considered a problem. So I guess by that logic, Gray will get a power-up...

Not really, because Wed was clearly shown to be so weakened that he could barely stand. In fact, generally was accepted that there wasn't much point in defeating him in that state, now, out of nowhere, it's suddenly relevant, really. And honestly this definitely makes Merc look pretty bad...

There's really nothing to confirm it for now, as I said, it just served to defeat a weakened enemy with less power than before, that's all. In the end, this actually only made Merc look bad, as some claimed that his power would be enough against one of these dragons, and look what happened.

Really need to calm down. Everything Lucy did with their power was defeat a weakened enemy that Natsu defeated without using his full power when he was in better shape and with much more power.

Seeing as Lucy is still unable to defeat Earthbuild, it doesn't seem like she's that strong now, as what's been said so far is temporary and it doesn't seem like it will last long.

The dragons are just lending their power, and that's something they can do for anyone.
