Probably he get trained by demon king himself or maybe he's genius among demon race and already reach peak of demon power(but still below demon king) and also that make him lazy bastard(just like now) because he's cocky and feel already strong enought to beat all his opponent

I think they were like this(IMO): - Meliodas high in spirit and strength - (magic increasing in demon mode) - Estarossa high in strength and magic - (spirit increasing in his stronger form) - Zeldris is the most balance in each category
