My guess is because a straw hat looked at from the top kind of looks like a sun, it's kind of a symbol of the inherited will of Nika/Joy Boy.

I mean there's a good chance this robot was trying to rescue whatever remained of Joy Boy from Imu's freezer right? I'm really thinking that the old Joy Boy was a giant, and that's why current day giants are well versed on him. It would explain the huge straw hat.

Man the second post in the spoiler pics and summaries for 1106 is annoying, it's not really informative on the new chapter, it's just someone saying the new chapter is crazy.

The revolutionaries did mention they were trying to mess with Kuma's head to try and get him back to normal, perhaps they adjusted something that's allowing him to act upon something he was unable to before?

Kuma's final words to Bonney at the end of the chapter being "Happy 10th birthday" hit pretty hard considering she's seeing this at the exact moment her father's consciousness is being wiped from existence. In my opinion its a greatly tragic and emotional end to the flashback, and really hammers...

I do kind of wonder how pain and memories seem to be different, or anything else he repels. Why is it that pain eventually returns to the original person it came from, but Kuma's memories don't eventually return to him, or the Straw Hats don't eventually get pulled back to Sabaody Archipelago...
