I think apart from many other factors that may lead madara into being evil , i think the real one is Envy (jealousy) , no matter what they were , madara can't believe he is inferior to Hasi... Knowing he is stupid , not so intelligent just as naruto , he has fighting intelligent but not actual...

At some point i always believe that there is a part of madara in tobi , alias obito . I know obito has skills and yes he can advance to certain level just as sasuke advanced before see naruto at the beginning of naruto shipp. Due to sharingan .
