Well, when the technique was shown, the people under the Genjutsu appeared to be wrapped in the Shinju's roots, feeding the tree their chakra... so it seems like the moon isn't what keeps the technique active.

I liked both... at first I didn't like Obito's, but I changed my mind after he stood up to Madara and made a noble choice between Madara and Naruto's respective TnJ's.
