Maybe breaking the steel heart doesn't kill them but just breaks the immortality, leaving them vulnerable for real. So it might be steel heart gets broken -> they get pummeled to near death and captured.

"Barely" is still underselling it imo but Hajrudin sent a 10000 Ton Machise flying, so he is very strong. When he punched Imu, caught by surprise, you can see he struggled before he did move a flying Imu. So Imu is actually incredible in this form. Hope it stays that way.
