Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump (2025) - News and Discussion!

This Kiyoshi discourse is ridiculous, of course Jump is going to push it. The median sales for this magazine belongs to Nue's Exorcist at 24k. This includes Hunter X Hunter and Ruri Dragon as well, if you don't include those series I think the median sales for this magazine would be Kill Blue at...

I agree with you, but it doesn't matter. If a company sees money they are going to invest in it no matter what.

If you are actually curious, you can take a look at TOEI and BANDAI NAMCO's annual/quarterly reports. These two aren't the only companies that have a deal with the One Piece IP, but it gives you an idea. For Toei in 2023 Q3, One Piece made 13,896 million yen. In 2025 Q3 Toei has generated...

Shueisha is simply not confident in the product, I'm assuming they need a proven track record for a series selling a certain amount before they commit to higher printed volumes. This business is a low profit margin one, so they have to be careful.

Just realized that Jump now only has 1 series that reaches 100k monthly and it's One Piece lol. Not going to count HxH since it releases volumes infrequently. Hopefully the anime for Blue Box and Sakamoto Days can give it a good boost.

I think all series nowadays include physical + digital numbers for circulation besides a few old series.

Other magazines are doing horrible as well, I think Jump is actually doing the best right now.

One thing I have learned over the years is online popularity != popularity in real life, at least in the monetization sense. Just because it has a million tweets does not mean there are a million readers, especially in JJK case. JJK leaks happen like a real life sporting events where a couple...

Netflix does weekly airings for shows that are broadcast on Japanese television. There is a good chance that Netflix acquired exclusive rights and they will dump all episodes in late 2024.

It looks like Sakamoto Days is going to produced by TMS and aired on Netflix in late 2024 from recent leaks. Hopefully Shueisha starts marketing it soon.

Probably 40k for Kagurabachi for the first week. It won't hit 100k in a month because they only printed around ~100K copies for volume 2, but it looks like Jump has a new pillar. Actually it might be closer to 30k, regardless new pillar.

I wonder if WSJ and Wakui have a deal where he gets at least one year to run his series or something.
