I reckon that although the world's end is quite far away, there is no telling about the humans' end.
I also think that somebody is going to start killing some sort of racial/cultural/religious group and other people are going to join in. And it's not that people have gotten more aggressive...

I can't seem to find the right manga volume (it's in the mid-late teens, right?), but maybe the reason that everyone in Valeria was dressed that way was out of respect for the dead. I mean, from what I can remember, the Valerians we see are either dead or royalty (or both...). Food for thought...
By the way, "Yuui", when written with the Japanese kanji 有為 , means "capable, able, talented, promising"-- similar to what you were saying about Valeria, ZaCloud. Interesting....
As for "Fai", all I have is the Greek letter/irrational number "phi".
