I believe Rebecca's power has brought about these changes. In the Original Timeline, Shiki's grandpops ziggy was a good guy, and the robots really died of using up all ether, nobody survived. In this timeline, shiki's grandpa is selfish and survived off the ether of other robots.

Well said. Seems to be a redundant plot hole, when strong enemies fight FT members. But Erza still has the best cheat mode in any fight. The author should officially mention that FT members are using cheats. Ridiculous nakama no jutsu senzu bean everytime FT members are in a pinch.
