Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2021] - Discussion and ToC Talk

Did some calculations and it turns out that the TPN LA did three times ($18.3m.) of what an anime (merch, BR, DVD - based on Oricon Yearly charts) pulled in terms of profit throughout both 2019 and 2020 put together ($5m.).

The TPN LA has more chances to receive an original-faithful sequel than the anime ever did by being actually profitable alone (2 billion yen). I never thought I'd say this a year prior, but here we are.

P.S. The amount of animation directors tripling in the last three episodes implies to me that was added as a replacement over something Shirai and Nanao were in charge at first. They were either discarded by the committee from further production or were forced to change things around due to the...

I mean, it is quite respected in Japan, so receiving a reboot in say 5 years is not really impossible. The fans just need to keep their support going for that time.

I mean, TPN's production in the first season was a lot more expensive, and these shows required not nearly as much to adapt it faithfully going forward. Plus, two of those still had an ongoing manga.

About TPN S2. Found it on ANN forum. For clarification: S1 only managed to sell 1k with its DVD/BR sales. This is nothing short of a bomb, especially considering the scale of the first season's production. You'd bring up manga boost as a counter argument, but those only go to the author and...

Seems that it's not the part of the 11 lineup, though. https://cal.syoboi.jp/tid/5869/time?Filter=ChAll

Seems that deviations from the manga/adapting more than 5 chapters per episode (which was done quite decently, imo) don't mean much to TPN S2 doing well at promoting the manga. If it keeps that going, S3 may actually happen.

I wonder why would they need to wait so long with these reprints.

Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2021] - Discussion and ToC Talk

News on TPN LA: The Promised Neverland performed quite well, opening higher than many other live-action Shonen/manga/anime adaptations (Bleach, Tokyo Ghoul, Black Butler, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, among others), and has set itself up nicely heading into the holiday period soon. It may still...

I do wonder why Neverland still keeps being high with it's reprints (80/100k per week right now, by Oricon/Shoseki). Not like there's anything pushing it to the public right now.
