I believe every time he gets killed, an eye closes. I agree with you somewhat though; I bet he has a trump card jutsu....particularly in the palm eye.

Question is, what was the trigger? We saw that Madara's Sharingan made Amaterasu activate. Perhaps Sasuke tried to pop off Tsukuyomi and it automatically made Itachi appear. If this is true, I can only wonder if there is a 3rd person that would auto-trigger Susanoo....
