- One Piece will once again continue to do its One Piece thing for yet another safe year. We will get out of Egghead, destination unknown.
- My Hero Academia concludes in the first half of 2024. Jujutsu Kaisen concludes in the second half of 2024.
- Yoza is finally reaching endgame and will end at the very end of the year. No significant boost in popularity from the anime.
- No anime boost whatsoever for Undead, and it will stretch until the beginning of '25, so no ending this year.
- Roboco and her amazing knees will keep living forever until the end of times.
- Time for the true explosion of Sakamoto! Anime announced early this year and super popularity increase when it airs late this year.
- The Elusive Samurai may conclude this year as well. Witch Watch will have its anime announced (if it isn't yet) and the team will spend the year fixing up Nico's age decrease.
- Time for the true explosion of Blue Box! The anime will do wonders for it.
- Akane will keep doing as it is now, neither better nor worse, until the anime announcement at the end of the year.
- Cypher Academy will be the illustrious axe of the year, in a period with no cushion series to save it.
- Kill Blue and Nue's Exorcist will be safe and slightly increase, but won't move much from their current position.
- I would like to say that MMA will rise in rankings but I don't actually think so. Series axed in a couple of batches.
- MamaYuyu, Kagurabachi and Two on Ice is an axe fodder batch that we will all forget before March.
- Green Green Greens will follow MMA footsteps as series that may not be axed but actually will. Ruirui Senki will be axe-fodder, trust me last year I predicted correctly the fate of the series that didn't debut yet.
- No news from Kubo even this year. RuriDragon will announce its future around summer.
- Similarly to my prediction last year, battle series will struggle and other genres will blossom. We will have a new romcom, a slice of life à la Magu or Ruri, another couple of spokon attempts, and at least one gag manga.
- The true hit of the decade will arrive in 2025-26 so this year will be similar to the last: some moderate success, many fails but no future pillar. 2024 will be another transitional year where the estabilished series will find true popularity, but nothing with great potential will emerge from this year's debuts.
Apparently, last year I also made a small ranking of the axed series of the previous year, so let's repeat this tradition:
1. PPPPPP: We all loved it so not much to add. The ending was the greatest WTF moment of the '20s. I am liking a lot the new work of Mapollo3 on J+.
2. High School Family: I was bored to death by it at first but it evolved and grew on me so much that now is the series I miss the most every week.
3. Fabricant 100: The central theme of Fabricants that do not think like humans was a great concept and stayed coherent until the end. Some struggling in the middle.
4. Ginka&Gluna: It had its moments, I enjoyed the ending a lot and I liked the attempt to bring back the adventure manga genre.
5. Tenmaku Cinema: I enjoyed it as a pure Slice of Life, less when it wanted to move forward a plot and a non necessary relationship between MC and female MC. The ghost is protagonist in name only.
6. Ichigoki's Under Control!!: Terrible at first, but when it gave up it became spectacularly nonsensical. I will forever praise the idea of using timeskips as a running gag.
7. Do Retry: Great series...until the big arm. Total downfall from there. Should have explored more the post-war poverty scenario.
8. Ice-head Gill: Like Fabricant, I liked the darker theme of what to do when your loved ones become Liches, but unlike Fabricant this theme is dropped quite fast so it's a wasted opportunity for me.
9. The Ichinose Family's Deadly Sins: Had very good shocking moments, but also moments so bad they can't be overlooked. The frantic search for a shocking turn of events every week damaged it to no return.
10. Tokyo Demon Bride Story: Simply not my genre.
