#6. Any tweet, specially japanese, about news, update or some interesting thing about the magazine or series has to come with a text of what that tweet means and also be on topic, if not it's going to be either deleted or i will edit the post.
#7. Refrain from self advertising or advertising Youtubers videos in the comments.
#8. Constant fanart posts just for the sake of praising a favorite series is prohibited, this rule doesn't apply for official art by Jump artists posted on social media, they're fine to post.
#9. Don't discuss or hype chapter spoilers before Sunday release, only comment if is related to a series surviving status and do it only inside the spoiler tag.
#10. Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

We have to remember that no timeline is given here. "When I first started creating Alien Headbutt" could mean literal years ago. In fact, it's very possible that this original idea for the series got rejected by editorial before eventually morphing into the AH that we got, and it wasn't changed by the author on a whim like some people may be lead to believe.

I still agree with shinuki that the best premise for alien headbutt would have been like an Ultimate Muscle style alien wrestlers thing, but the goat would have been a great MC. Some tweaks to the first chapter having the MC guy flat out lose to the alien and get captured while the goat is the bait and switch MC who watches and her owner and family member get captured, finds a parasite, and then gets a hybrid form and beats an alien.

If you bother to read the comments in the OG thread, literally noone was blaming Inui. Everyone knows it is very likely editorial decision rejecting the initial idea

Accumulating thousands of OP cards are crazy. Remember that the chance of getting ONE OP card is just 1 in 22. That is 4.5%. Now imagine how many books this guy need to buy to get that many. I get so suspicious though why they are not selling other designs? If this guy really buy volumes in bookstore for the 4.5% chance of OP card, then along the way they must have gotten other designs they need to get rid of.

So, my suspicion is bookstore or logistics employees stealing OP cards.

These huge numbers prove it was never unrealistic to assume a huge part of the Under Doctor and Kinato sales numbers were from scalpers. Not sure why it was dismissed when we already knew how many of them buy japanese products. The reason they have bad TOC is because they simply aren't that popular with the actual readers.

Still think Under Doctor is safe for a while and maybe the whole thing got it enough readers to survive for some time.

I'm just still unsure of this. I'd get it if they used this momentum to springboard into a new arc, or even just something significant, but it feels like lately, its just squandered the chances its been given. Like I can pretty confidently say that I don't think any of the new recurring characters are moving the needle for people, and the general direction for the story is still barely developed. Meanwhile, we're at like 3 volumes of content, and the story has almost ran for half a year now. Even comparing it to series axed in the 20s/30s, like Syd Craft, Otr, or Mamayuyu, there's just something missing. Those series all at least tried to do something with their time before and after their axe notices. Its wild how aimless it feels in comparison, I cannot imagine this approach is somehow enough to swing the needle in its favor.

I disagree about scalpers. If that was the case, then AH would have sold a lot more. I could see Kinato getting a small boost but not UD (even though I like Kinato better) UD also wouldn’t have exceeded other established series which theoretically would have gotten a huge boost nor would UD have gotten a twitter account. UD is just in a weird spot and is a weird series lol. Everything about it is odd.

Maybe this is the plan with UD though. It’s just a slice of life series because Tanimoto isn’t great with big scale plot; kind of like a fist of the North Star with a bunch of one shot arcs. Maybe it’s this generation’s Reborn where it starts as SoL but eventually gets bigger and deeper arcs.

Volume 2 will be the big test to see if it’s a hit regarding growth or if it will be a phantom seer that sells a good bit but gets axed.

I think it had a plan at first, it was going to be a battle shounen with emotional conclusions and some episodic drama chapters between arcs, but voters don't appear to like the battles or the drama so now it's had to abandon them and is in Yozakura year 1 mode of messing around with various ideas week to week trying to find something that sticks (but having a lot less success, and much less allowance for failure too since Yozakura had so many new series padding the bottom).

It had an obi by MHA's author on a first volume and twitter account. Scalpers don't read the magazine or know what's big, they'll just take things at face value and think this may be the next big thing. It's not the same as picking up volume 8 of Himaten or Kiyoshi 10.

My impression is mostly the same. Votes are bad, but due to a mix of sales and a bunch of other series ending, it got a safety net to try things out and see if anything works. All recent chapters feel like new pitches to what the manga should be going forward: battle manga against the evil organization that has plans all around the world, slice of life stories with the Under Doctor team, medical drama, romantic comedy, etc. It's trying everything.

Here in Brazil a kanzenban edition of YuYu Hakusho got announced, usually when these things happen in Brazil sometimes is kinda of a sign there's something going on with the series, i remember there was some sort of rumor about YuYu Hakusho getting a anime remake right?

I don't think comparing a WSJ series with a Jump Plus one will have any meaning on this. We will just have to wait for Under Doctor volume 2.
