#6. Any tweet, specially japanese, about news, update or some interesting thing about the magazine or series has to come with a text of what that tweet means and also be on topic, if not it's going to be either deleted or i will edit the post.
#7. Refrain from self advertising or advertising Youtubers videos in the comments.
#8. Constant fanart posts just for the sake of praising a favorite series is prohibited, this rule doesn't apply for official art by Jump artists posted on social media, they're fine to post.
#9. Don't discuss or hype chapter spoilers before Sunday release, only comment if is related to a series surviving status and do it only inside the spoiler tag.
#10. Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

Fujoshi/fudanshi's fantasies are very welcomed. lol And I agree for the percentage of gay people in a classroom. I would welcome a gay Jump hero without problem, but BL is very specific and I don't think it fits Jump editorial line.



I understand what's you're saying. But I think Jump has its own identity. Editors say "bring us a Jump manga". It's not just a "shonen magazine". Actually, I think that's why they are struggling now, being too focused on what they think they want.

BTW, I love BL too. It's just that I don't see it in Jump. Jump is Jump. I'm an old fart, sorry.

Huh? Everyone has expectations on what they'd like to see in Jump. We always see people saying "I'd like to see [insert any sport] in Jump!" or "I'd love a detective series" (just an example btw) So, would you say that to someone talking about any genre instead of BL?
Also, another point is that people like to see genres they love in Jump. Because it might create discussions, might be popular, etc. And many people only follow Jump, because it's easier, they don't have enough time to read somewhere else... So, it's cool to have genres you like in a mag you read.

Wanting BL in Shonen Jump is the same to wanting a battle shonen in Betsuma

No problem, we all have different opinions. BTW, there are some BLs in all male (by tradition) mags now. Like "10 dance"? It's in Young Jump or Young Mag, I don't remember. There are some ovnis likes these. So, they'll come to WSJ and WSM someday, maybe.

I heard no enraged outcries from the male readers when they were published, so people's mindsets are changing about this. But it's very hard for a male oriented mag to promote BL to its male readers.... It's not coherent with the gravia photos with near naked young females on the cover. At least for me.
Fortunately, fujoshi/fudanshi are very supportive of their BL titles.

Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi had a great chapter. The link to Asuta Roth’s old speech is really on-point, and if it keeps going in this direction, it has the potential to rise above being just a “mid‑tier manga”

UNDER DOCTOR is strange in a good way. It really feels like it has now committed to a vertical, episodic rhythm for each chapter while still maintaining an ongoing horizontal storyline.

As for HAL Formula and Cannon Master, I’ll wait a bit longer before talking about them seriously (at least until chapter 7 or 8, just to see how they might wrap up the first volume)

ONE PIECE, I don’t know… it's good, but the next chapter really feels like it might be the start of another flashback (and we’ve only just gotten out of one)

Issue 33 votes and thoughts
1. Animal Signal - Kokone in Mafuyu outfit genuinely sent me into the stratosphere

2. 2-B - Glad to see Sorachi's more emotional writing return, if only for a moment

3. Blue Box - Definitely went on for too long (Miura could've easily cut the extra Hina subplot and saved 10 chapters) but was still a good time, kinda sad that Hertz is (for now) the only dedicated romance left (unless you wanna count Animal Signal and that seems to go for gags more than romance)

4. Ichi - Dess is tuff and the most interesting part of the series

5. Kiyoshi - Never thought it would actually hit 100 (especially considering how much I previously disliked it) but i'm happy to see it make it there, it's much better now than it was 50 chapters ago

Roku - It'll be interesting to see an actual plot beyond the usual SoL develop

Sakamoto - I'm calling fakeout but with what happened in Himaten you never really know; anyways, Nagumo is tuff

Hertz - Not really a comment on the chapter itself but every time I see a manga reference MiB I just end up thinking of Cosmos instead

Ngl, I don't see why a BL couldn't be a shonen. Like, we already got a lot of romances in Jump, so, a gay romance instead of a straight romance shouldn't be a problem.
Well, of course a "fluffy Shojo" can't be in Shonen Jump, but we def can have cute romances or SoL, even in a magazine for young boys (anyway, everyone read shonens and Jump nowadays, so it's not a problem at all)
And, I see what you mean by editorial direction, but Jump always had many different genres, sports, romance, fantasy, even dark fantasy, so, was it never cohesive? Or maybe I didn't understand well what you meant ; but anyway, BL can be shonen imo, like any romance can be a shonen, so it's not really a problem, ig

Exactly. We got Blue Flag in Jump+

A shonen manga MC or deuterogonist who is canonically gay will be cool. No, the current yuri that exist in wsj does not count. Because it is obvious that they are there purely as fanservice for male gaze instead od actual representation (see CSM). Gay MC is controversial just because the readers often self insert into the MC, and they somehow do not like it.

Besides, Blue Box is already as close to a fluffy shoujo as it is in a shonen magazine. It frankly will not look out of place in a shoujo magazine if Chinatsu got other legit handsome male suitors to balance Hina.

I do not see how it destroy scalpers?? Because obviously the cards are sold in mercari.jp or yahoo auction or ebay. Everybody who ever collect merchandises know that companies like mandarake, bookoff, lashinbang etc always lowball your items and noone in their right mind will sell back to them (unless you are in a rush and just want to clear junk fast).

It would've been fun if Kinato would just stay on the current arc until it got cancelled and do an ending where he actually does get married and stay in the village, but I guess it's going to do a makeshift final arc after all.

Roku potentially introducing a villain is interesting. He might turn out to be a new comedy character but Agravity Boys never did any serious content, so I do want to see if Nakamura can pull it off.

Class 2-B's so boring. There's some fun bit gags here and there (like the curtain guy) but the overall series just does not have it.

What's valuable is the One piece card bonus in the magazine which can be sold for at least 1200 to 1400 yen a piece. The magazine itself cost 300 yen (based on the one i bought in 2024. Not sure if it has increased in price). That is at least 3 times profit.

Btw before anyone blame that american youtuber again. These kind of scalping have been around for YEARS. That guy did NOT popularize it. Stop giving him credit for things that happen for literal decades. I collect manga / anime merchandises + anime figures, including some exclusives from WSJ (magazine bonus, merch you get by applications etc) for a long time. There is no difference in scope of scalping pre and post that youtuber.

It is just that yall non merch collectors became aware of scalping due to it being in news. But for us seasoned merch collectors, these are just another sunday

You mocked them, but they did get sold very fast. The demand is high. This was in stock when I posted less than 1 hour ago. 30 pieces sold for 44444 yen. They made 35,444 yen profit. Because the cost of the magazine is 9000 yen (300yen x 30 )

FYI, a rent in Japan is maybe around 50k to 90k yen a month. Monthly salary is about 500k yen? Dude covered half of monthly rent / made 7% of monthly salary just doing this. Think about it

Just go to mercari.jp and you will see many listings get sold very, very fast

People are mocking scalpers from their moral high ground, but look at me in the eyes, and tell me honestly if you would reject any chance of literally covering your entire rent from just this.

There definitely is an increased scope., and by a lot. Not saying it's because of him, though it's very likely part of it, but they literally didn't have issues like this with manga and I follow news and japanese social media for years.

Cards and games were already scalped before for years, but manga scalpers filling the Shoseki top 500 for several days, random manga selling thousands more than expected, japanese social media posting about thousands of manga discarded in the streets. That's new and not the usual.

At least I’m finally seeing Japanese people not blame Chinese people or other foreigners for being the main scalpers lmao. That was their go to excuse every time in the past but there’s so many Japanese accounts bragging about scalping the copies they can’t use that scapegoat anymore
