Gry (#227): “used my role N1 but am regretting my target already.”
Erin (#238): didn’t use her role
Gry (#239): targeted someone who played last game.
Teub (#271): targeted Sam N1
Styl (#288): targeted Holt N1
Holt (#290): targeted Sty N1
Nash (#291): hid behind Sty N1
Bran (#309): “I used my role last night. I wouldn't get feedback so can't tell if it's blocked.”
Marm (#312): “I did not use my role last night, not because I didn't want to, but because I can't.”
AP (#313): “I didn't do anything, I couldn't decide on an appropriate selection, so I opted to give it another day.”
Yeah I don’t. Over the past couple games I’ve observed your gameplay a bit. Besides the claim point I mentioned already, the hider reveal + choice so far are poor. There’s no way you believed hiding behind style who hinted doc was a good decision because he’s a newbie who wouldn’t be killed. Even revealing hider D1 has no Strat benefit besides maybe getting ahead of a counter claim
Tubbs - Dropping hints quickly, and then again on request. Tunnelling someone for a day or two. Basically perfectly in line with town Tubbs play. Sam - Didn't murderise me Day 1 and is actually reading my posts so I might be biased. His vote movement day 1 makes little sense for mafia since he was safe from kako bomb and moving there only stirred shit in his face. Gry - Turned bad hint into good hint on request Day 1 and is pushing to organise town now but without pushing them onto a specific target so inherently ruling out agenda.
Bran - I feel like I misbehaved and he told me off ngl. I don't see why an evil would point out I should stop hiding cause I might give maf a double kill. I feel pretty stupid but I was probably gonna hide tonight until he put it bluntly.
Marms - I like her presence, one of the slots that is suffering from my lack of time to backread. If Erin is town then trying to pre-emptively make peace with them seems town coded.
DD - I thinks I knows what he's claiming so he's staying out of the red zone even though his content is kinda lacking.
Lawl - Leaning more lost townie than evil because of lack of agenda but cutting that slack is risky and I hope he gets a grasp of the game I can judge him by.
Erin - Pushing one of my more trusted slots in the game and being pretty open to yeeting us both. I think the narrative of me or Sam being suspicious for our day 1 voting is likely only coming from mafia. It's not damning by itself though so I'll keep an open mind.
James - Opportunising on my weak position basically immediately after coming into the thread feels very icky.
AP - Is actively misrepresenting my takes and not responding to me pointing it out. Part of the wagon that pushed me up in the first place.
Holt - Call me crazy but visiting Stylether and then anglin towards me today could be a poisoner realising they fucked up, poisoned us both, and is now covering his tracks before we flip.
This reads as consistent with your thoughts and play so far so I don't have any big issues with it. I think I see a couple of people differently (Marm green, not orange; Lawl green, not orange; Teubs orange, not green; AP orange, not red; Holt orangey-green, not red).
So will do a pair of "what they did" + "my thoughts":
Leaning town(would not lynch)
Holt - extremely specific hint, very upfront with information. My thoughts - While I dont get the hint, it feels too specific to be made up? And his posts look fine to me, though so far he's only been anti-Nash and not much else, though mafias seem well hidden.
Pigeon - did not hint D1. Did not use role N1(could not decide who to use it on). Mostly tunneling Nash.
My thoughts - highly controversial putting Pigeon in green perhaps, but he feels very green to me with his posts, does not seem to be holding anything back, talks and responds to whoever he wants/whoever is there at the time. D2 action talk is interesting as it almost paints him as a 1-time use role(though not necessarily).
Style - hinted active D1, then quite early claimed Doctor. Very anti-Kakoha(who flipped town). My thoughts - Extremely likely to have started the game as Doctor, the Kakoha lynch looks a bit bad but not enough to in any way downplay his other posts D1. D2 hasn't done much or anything really, and Holt N1 protection is quite far out there(and as of now unexplained), but the only way I will believe Style is mafia is if he was Traitor and got recruited. An avenue to revisit if he is still alive in endgame, but not before.
Sam
Nash
Struggling with time to reread Sam and Nash posts, but Sam reads pretty town, while Nash is controversial but I'd like to believe is town atm. Claims are too messy to be mafia, she usually does better.
Neutral
Lawl - did not hint D1(only said wasn't samurai). My thoughts - really not sure what to think. Avoided giving any hint D1 and is kinda mostly just there. Would normally be put in leaning red but the analysis on Nash D2 looked kinda genuine ish. Still I'm mostly confused where to place him.
Brandish - lots of strong-ish hints D1(active, strong in theory but often underperforms). Used it N1 but cant tell if worked(does not get feedback). My thoughts - Sounds fine but Bran is difficult to catch when mafia. The Kakoha lynch and anti-Nash stance are his main contributions/opinions so far. Still he is the greenest Neutral.
DD - active role D1 hint. Used it N1. My thoughts - he's kind of playing, though mostly trying to see who is hinting which role.
Erin - had the role before, decent but nothing special. Did not use role N1(conditions not met to use it)
My thoughts - Pretty much missed out on D1. Been around more D2. I'm a bit worried as I usually green-read town Erin early but so far am not feeling it in her posts, maybe needs more time? Asks a lot other people about their thoughts, but herself doesn't have thoughts on many players and stays on Sam(I've seen this movie both ways many times). The role claim seems interesting, could be like Marmalade good to leave for a bit later.
Teub - his usual type of hint. Used N1 role on Sam. My thoughts - Not very fond of the way he is playing this game. Just tunneling me for 2 days, maybe more days to come of doing just that. Revealed his N1 target but no further commentary on it when asked.
Leaning red
Marmalade - specific hint(staple role). Defended James D1(to revisit if her or james flip red). Did not/could not use role N1. My thoughts - staple roles are also common mafia fakeclaims so for now the hint doesnt do much for me. The Kakoha interaction D1 was really weird, she was giving him a branch to save himself, he plays along and she doesn't care and keeps her vote on him. Brandish kinda did the same. Her D2 action implies she is a dead targeting role but that is not a staple role? I also find her big summary post pretty flawed like saying I'm laid back when I started D2 very aggressive and bickering with several people.
I do always distrust Marm even when she's town, she is very talented/natural at coming off very suspicious at all times, so not sure if I have much confidence in pursuing a lynch here yet. But a dead targeting role can be extremely self confirming depending on what info is revealed, so a lynch on her could be premature and needlessly risky at this point.
James - missed all of D1(should be alignment non-indicative). Used role N1, thinks its a good role. My thoughts - I struggle to read James' posts and think it is genuine, but granted I may not be good at reading James. But all the mechanics talk and all doesn't convince me. As in - I didnt read any post or thought that made me think "this sounds town".
N1 Targetings:
Holt -> Style
Style -> Holt
Gry -> someone from last game
Teub -> Sam
Erin/marm - could not
Pigeon - couldnt decide yet who to
DD/Brandish/James -> used it but no comments on who
Nash -> Style

TLDR: Idk kinda hard to pinpoint mafias this game. But will make a shoutout that the mafias are: James, Marm, Lawl, DD?
!votekill James for now
--- Double Post Merged, ---
The only ones I would vote today are: James, Marm, Teub, Erin, DD, Lawl.
Oh yes I wanted more your input on that. Iirc you asked him "who do we lynch instead", he gave you some options and.. that was that. Why ask the question if his answer won't change your mind?
Yea I got nothing. You have a good point there, although imo it's not just about mind changing, more about if I'm gonna do something if he changes my mind.
Alright, while I have the time and I'm at my laptop, here are my reads at this point in time.
Leaning town Nash - I feel pretty good about Nash. They come across as authentic and like they're not trying to force anything, and while their decision making so far has been a bit dubious, I see that more as suboptimal town play rather than a red trying to stay afloat. Bit perplexed by the amount of people that have been sussing her though, it could be that there are bad actors wanting her gone.
GrySun - I like Gry this game. Marm said he came across as relaxed which I think is a poorly translated way of saying he's not forcing anything and feels authentic in his interactions, evaluations etc. I think the likes of Teub and dd voting him early d2 makes him look even greener.
Stylether - Is this his first game here? He pulled a Kami and claimed early (-10000 social credits, but at least it hasn't had the disastrous consequences like the other bloke. I like that he's at least been consistent with his claim, Nash is also giving them the stamp of approval which makes me think of them more favourably too. Reckon he's town.
Marm - I feel pretty decent about Marm. To her credit, her hint was good and she's obviously pretty clearly hinting at what she is this day which I think speaks in her favour. The only thing that goes against her imo is Kako yesterday because iirc she was one of the ones engaging with him who then let him die So yeah, bit of poor optics towards the end of d1 but the good stuff speaks louder.
Lawl - This is more vibes-based because he's hanging back a bit from the looks of it but there's nothing in his interactions that make me doubt him much atm. Just good to see him around again tbh so I'd like to believe in him.
yeah nah wot Brandish - Leaning town-ish with old mate. My only doubts stem from Kako-related stuff atm, but he generally seems well put together and in good spirits- maybe from a nang or two. One comment about his role today also has me thinking he's town-ish is in a detail he chose to include when speaking about it which I think he wouldn't do if scum. Still capable of surprises though.
dd - AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (For better or for worse, he feels like the authentic dd. I think him hanging back a bit like he does regardless of alignment doesn't say much, but if pressured we might be able to gain more insight. Voting Gry alongside Teub struck me as odd.)
Teub - I felt better about him day 1 than I do today. The manner of hint is very him, but some of the behaviour just felt a bit off. Throw in the vote on Gry and I'm wondering what the fuck was going on.
Holt - I don't fully trust Holt atm but I do think there's more positives than negatives to him. Anti-Nash stance feels a little forced imo, but the hint almost feels hyperspecific to a point that it's lost on me with my lack of yank league soccer knowledge apart from that flog Messy being there. Will be one to watch today.
Erin - I'm split on Erin. Obviously busy due to IRL things which is fine, but it hasn't helped her optics. What might speak in her favour is how nonsensical her sudden tunnelling on me and Nash is because I don't think saying "Sam and Nash are scum for what they pulled" when we both wanted to save Kako and put forward a town who said they'd read and share thoughts only to not do so is rational. Maybe the incident is a bit unfair to Erin because it was a push frm me and that's apparently something that has become a bit of a habit (sorry lol), but I stand by it being a fair play. So yeah, maybe town? Worst case scenario is she's a mafia that's very upset that my yolo push nearly got her d1 lol.
AP - I saw Pige as green day 1, and I still think he's more than likely a townie, but I've got him in my orange tier because what really stuck with me today was his back and forth with Nash. It felt a bit like he was inventing some stuff to shade Nash, which Nash also highlighted him doing, so its knocked him down on my trust scale. Active hint but saying he couldn't figure out a good target for his role, if I'm interpreting it correctly, at least narrows down what he could be which is a positive for him.
Leaning Mafia
James - Get him some deodorant because he stinks. Missing d1 isn't alignment-indicative of James, but I'm not liking how he sounds d2. To a point he feels inauthentic, like he feels pressured and is trying to look green without coming across as performative, which in turn makes him look a bit performative. Nothing to say that he can't convince me otherwise but he looks like a good lynch candidate atm.
Quack doctor is from what I get, basically a useless doc who just turns their protected target into an illusion. Same for the Spirit bomb but instead of killing the killer/last voted becomes and Illusion.
"Useless" is a wild claim here. Saving someone so they can continue to contribute to the conversation compared to just being lynched and gonezo might not be as good as just saving them outright, but definitely not useless.
Ironically I targeted you last night too. Was there a reason you picked me? Also is there a reason you believe your quack? You’ve had the same stance more or less since the game started
I am simply choosing to believe, until evidence proves otherwise, that as a doc in a game that has introduced a doc sanity variant that I have said sanity variant. Especially since it's incredibly funny that I have to deal with illusions 2/2 of the games I've played. Hence why I'm going around as a doctor, obviously I'm hoping that it's a red herring and I'm a sane doc cause that would be significantly more beneficial to us.
For your first one, I had already said in the previous day that I felt "worse" about Kakohu compared to Nash, but that didn't mean I don't still have doubts about her, the hider claim is wild and the shift to Erin feels a bit thespian. Distancing yourself from what you know is going to be a messy townflip is not uncommon for maf that feel like they can afford to do as such.
Now, I wasn't exactly set on these views, but in lieu of a better worldview, I operated on the presumption Nash is maf. I know her to be a vocal member of maf teams, and I started wondering "if Nash has her way and got to lobby for who to kill, who would she pick", and I ended up on Holt for his vote on Nash yesterday, referencing Juviii would have certainly gotten her attention.
At that point, considering I felt it would also be quite funny if I used a protection ability on Holt d1 2/2 games I've played, I decided to lock that in.
If I'm a protecting role next game as well, don't attack Holt d1, I might just do it again.
@Stylether why did you choose Holt? I don't mind the choice, would be thinking similarly, but want to know why you did (apologies if you said so and I missed it)
Yeah no way, it feels strange to even consider this an option. Why attempt to kill someone who could be a hider that has successfully hidden, therefore giving them legitimacy if the attack doesn't go through, over just killing literally anyone else and pushing the incredibly sus hider the next day anyway. If you're lucky, they really were a hider and you double kill.
I'm kinda surprised how many anti-Nash statements I saw D2. I thought if Nash is town mafia would jump at the chance to frame/lynch her D2, but its been more anti-Nashers than just 4.
What are you thinking about the state of things atm Mr Reece Walsh glazer? You sound like you're indifferent to a James lynch or might prefer another option?
Where was I tunnelling on Erin? I thought I've been level-headed in dismissing her paranoia over my attempt to save Kako yesterday. If anyone is looking like tunnelling atm it is her being wound up by that incident.

No no, maybe I wasn’t making myself clear enough, you arent tunnelling yet but its def something you tend to fall into quickly and I wanted to say this before its too late. Don’t focus just on her please is all I’m saying
Thankies, meds and sleep helped a lot and yes, with recent games this year Erin is also included in our circle of victims We are incredibly cute so I get it

Ah that's good that you're feeling better.
Like you Erin is one of the boys so it's all shits and giggles imo
Also quote fail from you on the other bit but between me and Erin, I am not the one doing the tunnelling nor do I intend to I hear you on the warning but I don't think rushing into making a hasty assumption like she did is healthy for us all at a point where there's a fair few questions
Facts and Information over feelings innit

Assuming you'll still be around for a second Marm: Do you have any thoughts on the current state of the game? (e.g. a James lynch taking shape, player behaviour etc.)
Alright, back, time to wall of text it up a little:
"Useless" is a wild claim here. Saving someone so they can continue to contribute to the conversation compared to just being lynched and gonezo might not be as good as just saving them outright, but definitely not useless.
I'll answer in reverse order:
I am simply choosing to believe, until evidence proves otherwise, that as a doc in a game that has introduced a doc sanity variant that I have said sanity variant. Especially since it's incredibly funny that I have to deal with illusions 2/2 of the games I've played. I hadn't yet, no worries, see above.
Why be berry if you could be cherry.

Where did this come from, this is the second vote on grysun and I don't feel like either were really explained.
In what world is telling a townie not to use their townie ability the correct play for town (apparently this world).
If this is incitement we have some charismatic mafia members. Seeing who were at the root of the incitement has value.
I am surprised to be alive. Maybe mafia thinks I'm a quack too and has lowered their impression on how critical of a kill I am.
