Just for fun this is how long each story arc of Hunter x Hunter is in terms of

Number of Chapters/Volumes

Number of Years from first chapter of the arc to the last chapter of the arc. Years will be rounded cause I'm lazy.

Amount of time that happens within the story itself from the first chapter to the last chapter of the arc (flashbacks don't count)
Since this will take longer I'm going to leave it blank for now but feel free to post info and I'll update later.

The Hunter Exam Arc (includes the Zoldycks chapters)

the things to consider here are the big time consumers:
- Starting from whale island travel to hunter exam starting point
- Airship travel from split mountain to Trick tower was at least a few days
- They spend a week on Zebile Island
- Traveling to parukea (Not sure if that is the correct nation name)
- Training at servants location to get through trial gate

The Heavens Arena Arc

No of Chapters 19 (2 volumes)
Real World Years 1 year

- I dont think it took them more than a few days to get to 200
- Penalty waiting time for gon to challenge gidu and peeps again
- Hatsu training before challenging Hisoka

Yorknew City Arc (Includes Whale Island chapters)

- Traveling time from whale island to York New
- I think they spend many days to gather money for the auction
Aside from that, when the action happened it all went rather quick

Should be the longest, because they spend at least a year training and preparing to fight Genthuru

Chimera Ant Arc

A week to fight Knuckle and pal
Somehow I think infiltrating East Gorteau was takeing about a month
After that it went down quick

Election Arc
No of Chapters 20 (3 Volumes)

Lots of traveling happened here but i dont think it took that long
Possibly off screen gathering all the experts to heal Gon might have taken much time, to get them from all around the world
After that Killua traveling home and back might just have been a week
But in the end for gon to travel to Kite and then to the world tree could have been taken long again

Dark Continent/Succession War Arc

There was some preparation time before the black whale departed
And then time of departure till now

Also about GI:
It marked ingame world 1 year had past since the last Hunter exam, so from then end of september (After york new) at least 6 months when they digged holes through mountains to masadora ? Correct name? xD
