Tbh I still like Ichi the Witch and don't really think the Magikeepers detract from my enjoyment.

But I do want to talk about something bothering me about the series - Gokuraku. I really enjoyed him in his intro arc but since then it kinda feels like he's fallen into the background a bit. Compared to Ichi, Dess or even Kumugi it feels more often then not that Gokuraku is just kinda...there lol.

It feels like Nishi wanted to have an Azz to Ichi's Iruma, a loyal bro type character, but hasn't yet quite figured out how to integrate him into the group properly yet. He only really got one moment to shine in the Chrono arc and then got nothing in the previous kinda mini arc with Fujimine. And I'm not even just talking about action, i'm talking just in general - a funny moment, a hype moment, a character moment, literally ANYTHING man. I can't remember him doing ANYTHING. Lol.

But yeah I'm still enjoying the series overall, it's still one of my favs in the mag. Just that Gokuraku is annoying me a bit.

These last 2 issues have been like the lowest i ever seen Ichi be, y'all really not vibing much with the current moment huh?

The Bullet Witch is not an interesting character. For me the execution of her little story arc is not being handled well. The brainwashing and then just letting her out on another mission without actually verifying it was brainwashing is not sitting well with me. Her design is ugly, I do not care about her village/tribe, her personality is meh, she's not endearing, and her other character interactions are poorly done. The bike is the coolest thing about her and that isn't anything special.

Fujime is a cool sadistic female character which I like but I need more about why a Human Witch is allowed to hang out with the Human Hater Majik Organization. It's counterintuitive for both parties. So, while it is a cool idea, the author hasn't leaned into it enough yet to leverage it for enjoyment, world building, or character development.

I do not think the introduction of the Majikeepers is an (the) issue. I quite like the idea of the Majikeepers in general, Ichi's master being one of them is a bit weird but easy enough to overlook since his interactions with Dess were done so well. I think the issue is more the Bullet Witch sucks and the Mantinel Witch Associations handling of the traitor situation that is bringing the story down recently.... maybe bringing down isn't the right way to put it. I would say the execution recently hasn't been the best and that is leading to chapters that just aren't as good overall or living up to the status quo.

So, been gone for a bit but can i just say that i was busy doing some work on some of my stuff when i decided to relax and game for a bit, then all of a sudden i recive a notification that i am required to verify my age, which i then did but it was hella anoyying to have to use my own account to to it(Cause i refuse to use important stuff like my own face and id for things like this.

Anyway, i hope to god this does not happen to mangaplus or other places i use to unwind.

Same here. Although i do think Boxster might deliver something interesting like it did with minakata, vwith him being a former mentor of ichi and his overall rivalry with Dess. Who knows? I do like the idea of a crminal witches arc happening in the future outside fujimine.

Raving about the bike was a character moment. But yeah, he's been sidelined hard. I hope he does something in this new arc when they start fighting.

I’ll go a step further and say I’m neutral on the magikeepers (I think there should be fewer of them) but I think gokuraku, who feels like an add on should’ve been gender swapped with Komugi. I think that would’ve been far more interesting.

Along with being disappointed by the underdevelopment of the world, use of power system, and fights, I was also kind of hoping that the stronger magiks would invoke that lovecraftian fear akin to CSM’s primal devils. I’m not feeling hakiri at all and like others I don’t find the bullet witch thing that interesting. Hopefully she’s more diverse in her power set.

Tbf i also see criticisms about current moment on Ichi in the actual Ichi discord server, so isn't really a isolated thing about the Forum

Funny how the one time i liked ichi the witch was during the squid arc, which from what i heard, alot of fans didn't seem to enjoy.

Otherwise, it's an extremely bland series heavily carried by one character (and maybe Minakata too)

I still like Ichi but ngl a little disappointed they dont go as much into the magic system/worldbuilding as I expected. Just not into it as other fantasy manga like Witch Hat Atelier (which has really neat magic system), Magical Girl Dandelion (more exciting/better fights/action, also much better villains so far imo), Albus Changes The World (I like how the story is going so far) and heck, even Shugo Chara feels a lot more fun with the way its magic works than Ichi...

From what I remember the World Hater was quite popular during his debut arc, especially with Fujoshis. Idk if that is still the case tho since he hasn't gotten actual focus in a while and I don't remember seeing any Ichi x World Hater fan art after that lol. But its worth noting that they're still making World Hater merch so I would assume that he isn't unpopular or anything. Actually a Ichi Popularity Poll would be cool to see hopefully they do one soon.

Gosh! I thought I am the only one who felt this! I think the problem is that Gokuraku kinda "completed" his arc in the Bakugami arc. Which is why afterwards he is just kinda "there". He has no long term goal or conflict anymore for us to look forward to. Very unlike Desscaras where she still has her ongoing familial bond with Ichi + her revenge vs World Hater. And Ichi with his ongoing (yaoi) beef with World Hater plus the mystery of his background....

Kumugi still has her inferiority complex.

Gokuraku on the other hand, has nothing. He completed his arc. He kinda felt like a one off character meant to stay in one arc similar to Minerva and Chrono. Heck, I would even say that Octopus Majik has more potential character development / arc than Gokuraku.

It is a shame because I absolutely love Gokuraku in Bakugami arc.

I thought it is very obvious that Fujimine is not human but most likely the Toxiterror Majik itself wearing the human suit.

Similar to that prophecy Majik. The difference is that the real Fujimine is most likely long dead or suppressed

The way everyone remembered Toxiterror as their best friend is creepily similar to how "Fujimine" brainwashed everyone. The foreshadowing is so obvious

The Majikeepers are one of the most glaring retcons of WSJ. Uroro killed and destroyed for millenia since its trial was just to be defeated by a man and now they come up with Man that can wield magical objects that can just out an Witch by touching them.
