#5. Don't post news about series from other magazine or publishers in the WSJ thread, post in the series own thread, but it's fine if you're mentioning other series or magazine to express a opinion or reflection about Shonen Jump.
#6. Any tweet, specially japanese, about news, update or some interesting thing about the magazine or series has to come with a text of what that tweet means and also be on topic, if not it's going to be either deleted or i will edit the post.
#7. Refrain from self advertising or advertising Youtubers videos in the comments.
#8. Constant fanart posts just for the sake of praising a favorite series is prohibited, this rule doesn't apply for official art by Jump artists posted on social media, they're fine to post.
#9. Don't discuss or hype chapter spoilers before Sunday release, only comment if is related to a series surviving status and do it only inside the spoiler tag.
#10. Regarding rule #9, an exception will be made for when we have new series, in this case, spoilers will be allowed only for the first 3 chapters of a new series for the users who are interested in knowing informations and details about the new series, these spoilers will obviously be kept under tags to protect anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled, so don't worry about it.

What is the most battle heavy the magazine's been, anyway?

I'm wondering if it might even be quite recently. The past magazine was usually very mixed been battle, sports, and gag.

Right now we have:

- One Piece
- Hunter x Hunter
- Sakamoto Days
- Nue's Exorcist
- Kagurabachi
- Kiyoshi
- Ichi
- Shinobigoto
- Under Doctor
- Cannon Master

I would count 2-B as well, and there's an argument for Witch Watch having battle as a sub genre, but going with just these we have 10 battle shonen out of 20 series in the physical magazine.

Picked a random 2006 issue https://www.jajanken.net/en/issues/2006-02-20/ because it's a beloved era by western fans:

- Tsugihagi
- One Piece
- Naruto
- Bleach
- Reborn
- D. Gray-man
- Takaya
- Hunter x Hunter
- Mieru Hito

9 battle series out of 20 series. You could argue Gintama, Bobobo or Muhyo to Rouji could be counted as well, but it's pretty much a similar rate as the current line-up.

Not really excited for Grey Keys imo I read the oneshot when it got translated and I really wasn't impressed at all I just found it kinda boring ngl.
Jump/Saito also continues to push Shinobi despite it's sales being whatever.

Huh, for me personally, I found that the push for Shinobi decreased a lot in the last few months. I guess it's because the focus is now on Roku. Which i think its great.

Anyway, thought i would ask the most random question of all: What are two genres within Shonen or anywhere in the manga industry you would love to see a combination of the two in the magazine?

Personally, I would be down for a Mystery combined with fantasy, as I tend to find that matchup fascinating ever since I watched the Grimm series, read a ttrpg called Vaesen, and played The Witcher.

It was getting pushed as 'the next big hit' for a little while, to the point of Roboco even making fun of that, but now seems to have more sensibly been settled into the safe but low-mid tier alongside Kiyoshi. That said, it is due a 2nd anniversary cover soon, so we'll see if it gets a normal anniversary celebration or if it gets a whole bunch of extra stuff.

Regardless, it wouldn't surprise me if it was the next series to get an anime announcement even ahead of Nue somehow (despite the speculation of that happening next month).

I think Nue will get its announcement in under 3 issues.

I think Ura no Report is poised to be a hit. WSJ has been having hit with horned girls.

Actually, oni girls have not had a very good track record, just look at Ayashimon and Dai Tokyo Oniyomeden. As much as it may pain me to say so.

“Jab” isn’t quite the way to characterize it, if anything it was more likely the opposite of that since it felt kind of like Roboco being used as a mouthpiece to gas up Shinobi by saying that it “might be the next big hit!” or something. I forget which chapter it was though.

I would be down with mystery anything in the mag. And if you like mystery/fantasy combo, have you read the Shadow of the Leviathan series? It's pretty solid (and takes some pretty clear inspiration from AoT lol)

God Valley movie is fascinating. A lot of people wanted it but I genuinely didn’t think they’d make a One Piece movie without Luffy and the Straw Hats. I think it has potential to do really well internationally but I think it actually has less commercial potential than Film Red did in Japan itself. It’ll be genuinely interesting to see how a canon One Piece movie does though. At this point, I think Demon Slayer might be one of the most influential anime ever made LOL

I can see it doing better than the Demon Slayer movies because it is cannon. The God Valley flashback was one of the best received parts of One Piece since the time skip. I honestly do not see a world where it doesn't set multiple records.

Demon Slayers movies won't ever be beaten in Japan. I honestly think God Valley is unlikely to beat Red as casual fans only care about the strawhats and Uta/Ado was a major selling point that won't return now.

Internationally, Infinity Castle did almost 800M. That also looks unbeatable to me unless One Piece goes for a movie for its ending and I doubt that's happening.

Not a fan of localized titles, but I guess they went for an X Files joke considering the boy's background.

Been soing fine, I've just been way more into jrpgs over manga recently, not to mention, as you can tell from my reviews, I just cannot muster any words for most series these days, even for chapters I DO like. I like doing the Nue ones, but otherwise it feels like a chore recently. Not to mention, I've been wanting to read more from other magazines too, so I've been pretty slack on Jump honestly.

Oh alright, just you were having personal issues. If needed to, you could to us if need to vent.

Anyway, I cannot really help in terms of the other magazines, mostly cause its actually hard to find the lastest news in some of them. Although I can personally recommend the likes of Silver Mountain from Sunday, that is being great to read.

Also you don't need to do reviews for all series, that just becomes a chore. Do it for your favs alongside our personal favorite Nue, that is sure to keep things lighter for ya. Just friendly advice who has been in a similar boat.
